🫐 Brain Food Alert!
A new study in Nutrients found that adults over 60 who ate berries twice a week had a 23% slower rate of memory decline than those who didn’t.

Why? 🍓 Because berries are packed with anthocyanins — powerful antioxidants that fight inflammation and oxidative stress in the brain, helping keep your memory sharp and your mind clear.

✨ Add them to your breakfast, smoothie, or snack bowl — your brain will thank you!

Ohakune Health Hub has joined the Squash Club!

This evening we had our first ‘free drop-in’ session at the Ohakune squash club. We loved seeing plenty of new and old (you know who are 🤣) faces. Thanks to everyone who came and had a yarn with us!

We will be doing our squash drop-in evenings the first Thursday of each month. Offering massage and physiotherapy. See you next month

Are your clicking knees bad?!….

We often get asked by patients why their knees click and is it going to cause harm….short answer is no…and also yes…

🦵Firstly, we need to identify whether that knee clicking is painful or not…

• It is more likely that painful clicking could be causing damage by tissues flicking over each-other and causing inflammation and wear over time.

🦵Secondly, we need to figure out what is the cause of clicking…

• Simple clicking at the front of the knee is likely related to the tracking of the patella. While this isn’t causing damage, poor patella tracking could lead to more wear over time.

• Larger clunks from within the knee could be a sign of internal issues in the knee, such as torn meniscus or arthritis.

🦵Thirdly, we need to identify if you need to do anything about it…

• A clicking knee that is causing you pain obviously needs some help. Stretching or strengthening exercises and manual therapy could help with this.

• If it is unclear what is the cause of your knee clicking, it could help to get a scan, as further treatment could be needed.

• A non-painful, normal functioning, clicking knee is nothing to worry about…but regular stretching and strength training could be of benefit to you in the long run!

If you’re worried about your clicking knees, come have a chat with us hub 😀😀
