Kia Ora Hapori, We wanted to let you know about the new changes. The Opotiki Medical Hub - Pou Ora after hours space, that will help keep this important service running for our community. There will also be an article in the Opotiki News and Beacon coming out.

What is the change?
There will now be a co-payment fee for most visits to the Pou Ora clinic.

Why is this happening?
The service has been operating with extra funding that is now coming to an end. To make sure the clinic can continue to serve you and the coast, a small fee is now needed to help cover the costs. This keeps our service in Ōpōtiki open for the long term.

What will you need to pay?
· Ages 14 and over CSC or non CSC: A standard consultation fee of $20.00
· ACC-related visits (14 and over): A fee of $19.50
· Children aged 13 and under: All visits are still free.
· Any of: Limited visa holders, Overseas visitors or those not eligible for funded healthcare in NZ: A fee of $100
Please note that for security reasons, the clinic will only be accepting card payments—no cash.

· This clinic provides support to all patient groups casual, unenrolled, visitors, over seas and enrolled

What should you do?
· Always call your own family doctor first.
· The Pou Ora clinic is here to help with urgent medical needs when your regular doctor is closed.

· If the clinic is closed and it's a life-threatening emergency, call 111 or for urgent needs go to Whakatāne Hospital.

·Patients can call Healthline: 0800 611 116 or Whakarongarou After Hours Support: 0800 306 236

We understand this is a big change, but it is necessary to ensure we have a local after-hours service available for everyone in our community.

Kia ora koutou,

We are excited to confirm that the wonderful team of volunteers from Trinity Koha Dental Youth with a Mission will be coming to Ōpōtiki 9th - 13th June and will be hosted by Whakatōhea at 38 King Street (at the rear of the Police Station, besides St Johns - or accessible from the Paper Plus carpark).

We are also very pleased to be using this free dental clinic as a placement opportunity for our beautiful team of mana wahine that are studying the Whakatōhea Business Administration & Technology programme. This opportunity will assist them to grow their professional skills, apply what they have learnt this semester and gain the necessary experience and exposure to support them to realise their aspirations.
