Happy New Year to everyone! With this crazy weather that we are having, it brings with it many issues to our horses. The grass growth is jungle like and causing lots of “spring like” behaviour and gut upsets and the warmth brings a host of other issues too including hives, generalised itching etc.

I have been using the Pre & Probiotic range from EquineCare with huge success. It has been hugely beneficial for a young horse with a tummy that gets a little irrated by changes in grass and another youngster with hives and itchiness. Not only have the issues improved and been completely relieved their overall condition is fantastic.

🌱🌱 Cleavers Ahoy!! (Sticky W**d) 🌱🌱

Im so lucky to have access to my own large crop of Cleavers in one of our little woods.

🌱Some info about this sticky little w**d 🌱

Sticky W**d for Horses 🐎 from Tender Heart Healing.

Also known as Clivers, Goose Grass or Cleavers (Galium aparine). This is a very useful 'w**d' and most horses love the taste. Sticky w**d supports the lymphatic system and is a diuretic. This means that it is particularly good for flushing out swellings and inflammation. It is good for allergies, for supporting the liver and kidneys and cleanses the blood.

Pick a large bunch and offer it to your horses 2 or 3 times a week. It is particularly good for reducing leg swelling when horses are stabled and can help horses with swollen lymph glands due to allergy. It is very nutritious and is a good way to naturally supplement the diet if your horse is on limited grazing.

If you think your horse is a little too enthusiastic about eating Sticky W**d they are probably craving the Cleavers because they know they are good for them! ...

Hard to believe this was two years ago!!! Since then I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many amazing horses and clients, from miniatures to imported warmblood stallions and everything in between! Regardless of breed or size Bowen still gets great results!
