Breastfeeding isn’t always easy – but with the right tautoko, it can be a beautiful and empowering journey 🤱🏽

This kōrero comes from one of our own, a māmā and our Clinical Director, who reflects on her breastfeeding journey as a taonga. For her, it wasn’t just about kai. It was about giving her pēpi the best start in life 🌱

Ngā mihi to all our incredible māmā! 🤱🏽💞

This World Breastfeeding Week, we’re celebrating the strength, aroha, and dedication of wahine across Aotearoa who nurture their pēpi with every feed.

Breastfeeding is more than nourishment, it’s connection, whakapapa, and hauora in action. Whether it’s a few days or a few years, every journey looks different, and every one is worthy of celebration.

To our māmā: we see you, we honour you, and we’re here to support you.

Measles spreads very easily and can lead to serious health problems. There are a number of cases popping up in pockets of Aotearoa; therefore, we think it is important you know a little bit about Measles so you can protect your whānau.

Common signs or symptoms of Measles:

🤒 fever or high temperature

😷 cough

🤧 runny or blocked nose

😵‍💫 red, watery eyes

😰 white spots inside the mouth

🔴 a generalised rash, starting on the head and neck and then spreading to the rest of the body.

Immunisation is your best bet of protection.
You are considered immune if you are born before 1 January 1969.

Those born after the 1 January 1969 should have 2 doses of the MMR vaccine for the best protection against Measles.

Not sure if you or your whānau have had two doses of MMR? Check in with your GP, hauora provider, or health centre.

The MMR vaccine is FREE for:
Anyone under 18 (regardless of visa status)
Anyone eligible for free healthcare in Aotearoa

Let’s keep our hapori safe.

Ngā mihi mō te tau hau Māori! ✨

Today marks the first night of Matariki — the beginning of the Māori lunar new year — with the star cluster rising during the Korekore piri ki a Tangaroa phase of the Maramataka. This phase is traditionally connected to reflection, abundance, and preparing for new beginnings.

Whether you’re new to celebrating or a seasoned hautapu, we wish you a Matariki full of warmth, quiet reflection, and meaningful time with whānau.
