Holding back the tears…
Her words capture the heartbreak of wishing someone had spoken up. A reminder that reaching out, listening, and caring can change what happens next. One conversation could keep someone in the race. 💬💛

Take Notice 👀🌿

We all get busy and our minds get cluttered. Each day, take a few minutes to pause and think about what you really appreciate.

Pause and notice the small moments, whether at home, at the track, in the kennels, or at the stables or anytime throughout the day – the smell of fresh hay, the sound of paws or hooves, birds singing, the sunshine on your face. Anything that makes you a smile or be present in the moment.☀️

Noticing the small things lifts your mood and keeps you grounded.

What moment did you stop and notice today? ✨

Be Active ✨

Moving your body isn’t just good for fitness, it is a powerful mood booster too. Many roles in the racing industry are very physical already, but what do you enjoy doing to keep active outside your day to day work?

It doesn’t need to be a “workout”, just a bit more movement in the day. Do what you can, enjoy what you do and shift your mood.

Being active helps reduce stress and lifts your wellbeing.

🕺 What is one way you might get moving this week? Share below!

“A small act of giving can make a big difference.”

How will you give to others today? 🤲 🎁

Giving doesn’t have to be big, small acts of kindness make a huge difference.

A smile, a helping hand, or just asking how someone is doing can lift someone’s day (and yours too).

What is one small way you will give to others today (or this week)? Share this in the comments!

Connection keeps our racing community thriving. 🤝

In racing, it is not just about the hard work, the animals and the wins, it is about the people too. Feeling connected with your mates, family, or team keeps you strong on and off the track.

😁 Share a laugh
🍴Sit down for a meal with family and/or mates
📱 Send a quick message to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while
🌟 Even on busy days, make a couple of minutes for people around you

Small moments of connection make a big difference. 💙

How will you connect with others today?

🔥 From BBQs to trainings, race days to meet-ups — this month our industry has truly come together for World Su***de Prevention Month.

We’ve shared conversations, learned together, and shown that looking after people is just as important as looking after the sport we love. 💬💛

To everyone who joined in, wore an armband, asked a question, checked in on a mate, or simply showed up — thank you. Your involvement is helping break down stigma and build a stronger, more supportive racing community.

We feel privileged to stand alongside you in this work, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going. Together, we can keep wellbeing front and centre in our industry.

Because remember — one conversation could keep someone in the race.

The numbers don’t lie — our industry is hurting.
From our NZ Industry Wellbeing and Hazards Survey:

42% reported moderate to severe depression

37% said they were burnt out or overworked

30% experienced poor wellbeing

20% struggled with sleep, fatigue, and low energy

11% felt they’d be better off dead

6% seriously thought about ending their life

These numbers are not just statistics. They represent our mates, our colleagues, our people.

💬 That’s why this World Su***de Prevention Month we’re reminding everyone:
One conversation could keep someone in the race.

If you’re struggling, please reach out. If you see someone struggling, check in. Together, we can change these numbers.

At OnTrack, we’ve got a simple vision for the future of racing:

🌱 A community where people feel safe, supported, and proud to be part of the industry.
🗣️ A place where speaking up about mental health is normal, not scary.
🤝 An industry that works together to look after its people — not just the horses and dogs.
📊 Real progress measured by real stories and real wellbeing, not just numbers.
🌍 A racing industry that the public can trust and see as caring.

By 2029, we want OnTrack to be a model others look to when it comes to looking after people’s wellbeing. Getting there means listening to our community, setting clear standards, sharing success stories, and building something strong and sustainable that lasts.

Together, we can make racing a safer, healthier place for everyone.
