Looking back on an incredible opportunity when we had the privilege of being a guest lecturer for the The University of Waikato Design Show last year.

We explored the critical steps in designing a product that’s innovative and ready to be brought to life in the factory. From prototyping to material selection, every detail matters when moving from concept to production. It’s been an action-packed few months!

Two months ago, we had the privilege of hosting Minister Mark Patterson for an insightful discussion at ESP Medical. Together, we explored collaborative opportunities on our ongoing projects, driving innovation in healthcare and paving the way for a promising future.

During his visit, the Minister also engaged with our talented team — Heather Allen (Director, pictured below), Dr Hani Abdeltawab (Principal Scientist), and Tex Taylor (Engineer) — to dive deep into our innovative products. We’re proud to be making significant strides in both animal health and human medical devices, showcasing our commitment to improving lives across the board.

The journey ahead is filled with potential, and we’re thrilled to be at the forefront of these advancements! Watch this space!💡

We had so much fun at (the) KuDos Science Spinners STEM Hub event!
This year ESP Medical highlighted pathways to the medical industry through engineering and medical device manufacturing. Always great to have a korero with the up-and-coming talent in our future workforce.

The Science Spinner event is dedicated to strengthening our Science/STEM capability for the future by inspiring, informing and encouraging our young people to explore STEM educational aspirations through engaging in practical STEM uncovering exciting STEM career pathways.

While originally very much focused on marketing the Response Ventilator to the Sub -Sharan African region, after a trip to the Middle East, she found many more opportunities to get into lower-barrier markets like Yemen, Oman, and Kuwait. TEAM TUESDAYS // We thought it would be nice to introduce you to some of the amazing staff we have working behind the ESP Medical brand.

Say ‘Kia Ora’ to our Research and Development Technician, Becky Kavenga👋. Becky has been working with the ESP Medical team since September 2021 and has quickly become a friendly face everyone loves to see around the office.

Becky has got it all, not only has she already completed a Degree in Computer Science at Waikato Uni, but she is currently in her final semester at Wintec studying a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Her passion for Mechanical Engineering flows through into everything she sets her mind to, and she is growing and learning every day in her role.

Becky is currently focused on 2 main projects:

The Response Emergency Ventilator (as pictured in the photo) where she is responsible for assisting in Ventilator-related assembly processes, procurement, and 3D modelling.

She is also very involved in the research and development of a new complementary product to our Ventilator that we are developing – this project is currently top secret, and we can’t talk too much on it yet...But watch this space! 😉

Outside of the office, Becky loves the outdoors. She loves climbing Mount Te Aroha for its beautiful and rewarding views and has a special connection to it, given her Te Aroha family roots! When she’s not up blazing trails, Becky loves to play the guitar. She’s a fan of all music and loves to play “Don’t let me down” by Joy Crookes.

In true ESP Medical style – we asked Becky if she was a doctor, what type of specialist she would be… Becky would be an Endocrinologist (focusing on the Thyroid and body regulation)because she believes is it such a crucial part of our body to function. It’s as essential as the heart but not as widely studied or recognized – Becky you are one smart cookie!
