To pursue or to uncover?
It’s easy to get caught up in our search for meaning ‘out there’ somewhere. And in this search, we either keep looking, never quite satisfied with how it is, or we give up in the stress of trying to attain something that seems unattainable.
We sometimes think of purpose as something to be gained rather than uncovered. But whatever the outcome, it’s going to carry the energy of whatever it took to get there. Meaning, it’s our state of consciousness now that manifests our future.
This kind of purpose relies on things external to us, and thus, out of our control. To win we depend on others' to fail, to make money we depend on others' to invest, to get the dream job we depend on others' standards, to relieve suffering we depend on people suffering to begin with.
This type of ‘out there’ purpose is not a bad thing; in fact these kind of “goals” can be extremely beneficial.
But the issue remains in that more often than not, we’re fixated on these outcomes as been fundamental to meaning and success, relying on externalities as the the primary source of our contentment.
The importance of process over outcome is paramount. It’s in the process where we find ourselves in a state of flow. It’s in the process where we uncover our transpersonal / higher purpose. It’s in the process where we are receptive to the subtleties, the coincidences… our charm or, intuitive wisdom.
It’s in the process where the magic happens.
So how do we realign with our inner Purpose day-to-day?
The big ole’ V word - vulnerability, and values. Where purpose inspires, values guide and habits define.
