Last Sunday I spent the day revising my Girls Gone Strong Women’s Coaching Specialist theory book and then sat a 2-hour exam.

Every two years I make the choice to recertify, so I stay current in women’s health and fitness — because my clients deserve the best, not outdated information.

This weekend I’m sitting my PN1 Precision Nutrition Coaching recertification exam.

For the first time, I’m going to hang my qualifications on the wall in my SHP2Fitness studio.

It’s made me reflect on just how much knowledge has been built over the years — often in the pockets of time between work, family, and life.

These aren’t just certificates.
They represent commitment, ongoing learning, and a genuine passion for helping women feel stronger, healthier, and more confident.

My qualifications include:

• Breathwork Coach

Learning to live in the uncomfortable.

I went out for an afternoon walk around the lake on a hot, windy day. I’d thrown on a sweatshirt over my sports top, and halfway through the walk I was in full beast-mode sweat, wishing I’d worn a t-shirt instead so I could cool off.

I noticed other girls walking around in just their sports tops, and my first thought was, “I wish I were as skinny as them so I could pull that off—I’m such a sweaty mess.”
But right then, I caught myself before sliding down the negative self-talk rabbit hole.

Instead of worrying about what others might think of my plus-size body, I took off my sweatshirt anyway and embraced my squishy curves.

So here I am—owning my shape as I work toward my health goals, finding comfort in the uncomfortable, and choosing self-acceptance every step of the way.

💁‍♀️Something I’ve learned over the years is that we get to choose who we share our energy with.

If someone consistently drains your energy, it may be time to let them go.
If you feel more stressed around certain people, listen to your body — it’s telling you something important.

When we become more selective about who we spend our time with, our lives can improve dramatically. We tend to become a reflection of the five people we associate with the most.

So if you’re feeling stuck in life, take a look at the friends and people you keep close. Ask yourself:

Are they promoting my growth or stunting it?

Are they living a life aligned with the goals I’m striving for?

Do I feel more energized, inspired, and happy around them?

Surround yourself with positive energies and people who are striving for success. 🙌

✨ No More Hiding ✨

I’ve always struggled to feel comfortable wearing togs.
Those intrusive thoughts — the ones that whisper that people are looking, judging the parts of your body you’re insecure about — they can feel so loud. 😞

For as long as I can remember, I’ve tried to hide my thighs and lower tummy with a sarong. Any time I was out with friends and had to wear togs, those negative thoughts crept in and pulled me away from truly enjoying the moment.

But recently, I realised something needed to change…
My mindset needed to change.

On the 1st of November, I made a decision:
No more hiding my legs.
No more letting insecurities shrink my experiences.
It was time to walk around confidently in just my togs 🩱.

And since then, something amazing has happened.
I’m wearing shorts again and actually enjoying noticing how my legs are changing from working out.
I’m letting myself feel confident without needing tights under my skirts.
I’m learning to see my body for its strength, not its flaws.

This isn’t just about clothing — it’s about freedom.
And I’m proud of myself for choosing it. 💛

✨️ Recovery Balance & Bliss

After an epic week of pushing my limits along with clients and friends
— daily strength sessions, two hikes, yoga, and even a Zumba class
— I decided it was time for a well-earned recovery adventure ✨

Headed to Okoroire Hot Pools, tucked away in nature and surrounded by lush green bush. Soaking in the natural Hot Spring water on a sunny day felt like the perfect balance to a week of movement and challenge. Sometimes the best adventures are the ones where you simply pause & let nature do the healing 🌿💧☀️

If you haven’t been before, I totally recommend it — such a hidden gem!

🏔️ Hakarimata: Round One – The Comeback Crawl 😂

One of my health goals this year is to rebuild my cardio fitness! 💪
What better way to do it than by taking on the beautiful Hakarimata Ranges right in my backyard view 😍🌄

Now… 4 years ago, I used to reach the summit in 45 minutes and be back at the car in 15 minutes.
Today? Let’s just say I reached the halfway seat in 1 hour and 15 minutes 🤣 and took another 25 minutes back to the car.

That’s right — a 40-minute difference, and I didn’t even make it to the top. Just half the stairs and all the sweat 🫠😂

But honestly? I’m not even mad about it. Because the view, the burn, and the reminder that fitness isn’t lost — it’s rebuilt — all makes it worth while.

So here’s to starting again, celebrating the small wins, and remembering the golden rule:
Only focus 1 step at a time. 🪜✨

Bring on next week’s climb! This is week one of my “Hike Every Week” challenge, and I can’t wait to see what a bit of consistency (and a lot of heavy breathing) will do 😂
