What better way to start a new year than a brand new suite of sepsis pathways for primary care in Aotearoa New Zealand.

In collaboration with Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality & Safety Commission & Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, we are delighted to announce the new package for use in the community.

We know that 80% of sepsis cases start in the community so having sepsis front of mind in primary care is critical.

Adult, paediatric and maternal pathways are all ready to download and use by GPs, midwives, paramedics, nurses, and anyone working with potential infection cases in our community.

You can find them here https://www.sepsis.org.nz/clinical-tools/ and just scroll down to pre-hospital community sepsis pathways.

We know some of our sepsis champions in primary care have already got their hands on them and are using them already. Big cheers to the guys at Stoke & Waimea Medical in Nelson https://www.stokewaimeamedical.nz/ who've even busted out the laminator to have them ready for use on the GPs' desks!

We'd love to hear your stories of using these pathways in primary care - send us photos or examples of you championing sepsis care in Aotearoa New Zealand!

💛 Quick reminder, e hoa mā: not everyone finds this time of year easy.

If someone popped into your mind while reading this… trust that. Reach out. A message. A call. A “hey, you good?” Tiny check-ins can make a massive difference for the ones we love and care about. Look after each other this raumati ✨🫶
