Indy May Crochet

Indy May Crochet Hi, I'm Indy, welcome to my small business page! Stick around to see what I've been creating and be the first to know about new product releases!

Kia ora and welcome to my page. My name is India, I am a crocheter and a passionate disability advocate primarily involved in the disabled youth and rare disorders scene. In late 2021 I started crocheting in the hopes of gaining a hobby I could do throughout both my good and bad health days. I am hopeful that through this page I will be able to share some of my crochet work with a wider audience whilst also working on developing my small crochet business.

It’s been a while now, but as many of you know, I spent almost eight months working on and off on this baby blanket! It was the most tedious project I’ve ever undertaken, not just because of the detailed pattern, but also due to the constant color changes. I found myself constantly tangled in yarn that kept catching on one another.

But behold, here is one of my biggest projects yet—not in terms of size, but in complexity. This blanket has already been much loved by the lovely baby girl who received it! It was an absolute pleasure to gift it to a close family friend.

P.S. I’m not interested in taking on another project like this anytime soon! 😅😊

A day late, but here it is! I created this piece of digital art to celebrate the birthday of an incredible young woman. Happy birthday to my courageous twin sister! I hope you like this artwork, which was inspired by the many photos you've sent me of you with the lions you are staying with in Uganda. Lots of love! Xx

🌟 Exciting News Alert! 🌟

After countless requests and a lot of reflection, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my new Instagram business account to complement my page! 🎉 This marks the beginning of my re-branding journey and I couldn’t be more excited!

While I will still be operating under the beloved name Indy May Crochet, I'm expanding my horizons and rebranding to Indy May Design. This change allows me to showcase all the creative work I love to do under one umbrella!

Crochet has always been close to my heart, but as many of you know, my creative pursuits have blossomed over the past 6-12 months into pattern design, graphic design, illustration, writing, and journalism. Moving forward, I’ll be sharing more of these diverse creative pathways with all of you, both here and on Instagram!

I’m currently working on a new logo that reflects this evolution, and I can’t wait to unveil it soon. But for now, I need your support more than ever! Please head over to my new Instagram page and give it a follow. I’m committed to being more active on social media, and I’d love for you to join the journey with me. Trust me, you won’t want to miss out on all the exciting things coming your way!

Thank you for being a part of this adventure so far - more to come soon! 💕

It's late, but I'm finally here with a post about my past two markets: Art In The Park in Rotorua and the Illuminate Night Market in Auckland.

Art In The Park was a very slow day. While I met some amazing people and had great conversations, I unfortunately didn't make any profit from this market. That's just how it goes sometimes!

However, the Illuminate Night Market in Auckland was a completely different story. Not only was the environment everything I've always dreamed of, but I also made many connections in the arts and disability community. Plus, I was able to make a profit and donate several of my crochet fidget toys and worry worms to the fantastic team at Recreate NZ!

I don't have many photos from Art In The Park, but I'll share what I do have below, along with my photos from Illuminate!

🌟 Reminder! 🌟

Tomorrow is the big day! I’ll be at my last market in New Zealand before my move to the UK, and I couldn’t think of a better way to say goodbye than joining the incredible Illuminate Night Market hosted by Recreate NZ!

If you’re in Auckland and looking for something fun to do, come join us at the Mount Albert War Memorial Hall from 5-9 pm! There will be an amazing array of local disabled and talented small businesses, craft stands, delicious food trucks, and live performances. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with awesome people and support our local community!

I’m so grateful for this chance to celebrate and connect before I head off. I hope to see some familiar faces and share one last evening of fun with all of you!

P.S. I’ll be located inside the hall, so pop in and say hi!

Let’s make it a night to remember!

Hi everyone!

I am excited to confirm that I will be attending the Illuminate Night Market as a stallholder in Auckland this Saturday, March 1st. I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone about this fantastic event! It would mean so much to me and all the vendors, food trucks, performers, and everyone who has worked hard to make this event happen again this year if you could come along to show your support. Join us for a fun evening filled with great food, entertainment, and the chance to shop and support small businesses!

Additionally, there are five 3-piece sets available in the following colours: light green, forest green, purple, lavender, and a mixed set of light and forest green.

Hi everyone!

I hope this message finds you well! As I mentioned in my previous posts, I am excited to participate as a stall-holder at the Illuminate Night Market in Auckland on March 1st. However, I’ve encountered a challenge: I currently don’t have transportation to and from the event.

I am seeking assistance with travel from Rotorua to Auckland, or possibly from Hamilton to Auckland and back. I understand this might be a significant request, given the distance, but I’m eager to explore any available options.

I will be bringing a large container filled with my crochet creations to sell at the market, along with my foldable power chair. If necessary, I can consider traveling without my chair to make arrangements easier.

If anyone is heading to the market and has space for me and my items, I would be incredibly grateful! Alternatively, if you have suggestions for transportation solutions, I would love to hear them.

If I’m unable to secure transportation, I may have to withdraw from the market, which I truly want to avoid—for both myself and the incredible organizers of this event.

Thank you so much for any help or advice you can provide!

Best,

India - Indy May Crochet

🎉 Exciting Announcements! (Part 2) 🎉

After attending Art In The Park in February, I’ll be heading to Auckland for the Illuminate Night Market on March 1st, 2025! Organised by Recreate NZ, this incredible event fosters a community space celebrating diversity, creativity, and connection.

What makes Illuminate truly special is that all stallholders come from disability backgrounds or communities that challenge the status quo. Together, we’ll promote self-determination, financial autonomy, and social inclusion. I’ll have a diverse selection of products, featuring some exciting new designs alongside my existing favourites!

I can’t wait to see all your smiling faces at both of my upcoming markets!
