We’re building a Māori-led space for film, doco, storytelling, taonga pūoro & healing kaupapa — and we’re looking for those who feel the calling.

We also have other peka (branches) growing, so don’t overthink your skill or where you fit.

A 3-Day Holiday Programme at Tarimano Marae 💚💯

Kia ora e te whānau,
We are all set for our wānanga at Tarimano Marae – starting tomorrow!

🕙 Whakatau at 10am – please aim to arrive a little earlier to settle in.

This is a space to be unapologetically us, be whānau, and be together.

We ask for a koha of at least $20 per whānau towards kai costs.
If you’re unable to koha financially, you’re welcome to contribute kai for your whānau instead but don’t let it be a reason not to come out and be in the space whānau.

🌌 MATARIKI WĀNANGA 🌌
3 Days • 2 Nights • Out by the Maunga
A time to reflect, create, heal & rise together.

Join us beneath the stars for a sacred 3-day, 2-night wānanga dedicated to the rising of Matariki. Held in the embrace of Horohoro Maunga, this immersive wānanga is an opportunity to pause, remember, and realign—with our whakapapa, with our wairua, and with the kaupapa that carries us forward.

🗓️ Dates: July 4th, 5th & 6th.
📍 Location: Rongomaipapa Marae – near the maunga
🎟️ All-inclusive price: $111 per adult , $22 per child ages up to 16 (Deposit required)
🧡 Kai, resources, and activities included
👥 Open to rangatahi and pakeke
(youth and adults)

What’s Included:
✨ Hautapu Ceremony – honouring those who have passed and the year to come
🎶 Waiata Wānanga – create original waiata inspired by pūrākau and the whetū
🤲 Mirimiri Sessions – healing space for tinana and wairua
🔥 Evening Fire Circles – pūrākau, kōrero tuku iho, and deep collective reflection
🌿 Rongoā & Nature Practices – connect with the taiao and mātauranga Māori
🛏️ Shared accommodation or camping (depending on site)

Partnership Opportunities:
We are open to partnering with iwi organisations, marae, or kaupapa Māori collectives to subsidise or sponsor places, ensuring access for whānau who may need support.

✨ Update from Matawai ✨

E te whānau, we acknowledge that we haven’t been operating from our space as usual, but we’re still here, moving forward in a positive way. 💫 We’re working towards reopening and planning a relaunch of our services—more details to come!

In the meantime, we’ve been continuing our mahi with Mauri Tau Mauri Ora Trust and running regular clinics alongside Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Pikiao. We’re also in the final stages of becoming ACC registered, which means we’ll soon be able to offer more support to whānau in need.

This week, Rahera will be facilitating an Atua Wāhine session with another organisation, continuing our kaupapa of reconnecting with our stories and healing practices. 🌿

On the surface, business may not seem busy, especially on social media but Te Whare o Hine Pūrākau is still standing, we are still offering rongoā to our whānau, and we are still walking this path with purpose. ✨

🌀 Karakia – The Breath of Connection 🌀

Prayer isn’t about the form—it’s about the opening. The moment when your mind, body, and soul surrender to something greater.
And in that surrender, there’s a shift.

A release. A freedom.

That’s why I stay quiet first.
Tihei Mauri Ora;let the breath move, let the connection happen.
Hono. Align. Then, when the moment is right.

Tēnei au. A calling out. A stepping in. Opening up to Te Whare Aio—to clarity, to knowing.

It’s this practice that’s kept me here.
Kept my sobriety.

Kept my mind clear.
I’ve done this before.

I just lost myself for a little while.
But the path is always there.
You just have to listen. 🌑🌿✨
