It is with deep sadness and immense aroha that we acknowledge the passing of Whaea Sue Taylor, a woman of great mana, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to the wellbeing of our people.

Whaea Sue was a trailblazer in indigenous to***co control, whose tireless advocacy helped shape a healthier future for countless whānau. Her leadership in the Tupeka Kore movement was courageous and transformative, grounded in love for her community and a fierce commitment to protecting our mokopuna.

Her extraordinary contribution was honoured with the Dame Tariana Turia Award, a recognition of her lifelong service and the profound impact she made across Aotearoa.

Whaea Sue will be remembered not only for her mahi, but for the way she carried herself—with dignity, compassion, and strength. She was a guiding light, a mentor, and a voice for change.

We extend our deepest condolences to her whānau. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a joyful great-grandmother. Her legacy lives on in each of you, and in the many lives she touched.

Moe mai rā, Whaea Sue.
Your light continues to shine in all that you gave, all that you built, and all that you inspired.
