Te Hā Haumanu — Term 3, Session 7

Today we had a last-minute relocation and improvised with what we delivered.

The weather didn’t keep our māmā away 🌬️ They decorated candles, matchboxes, drink coasters, fridge magnets, and beaded bracelets. Some even turned their creations into beautiful Father’s Day gifts 🎁💙

More than just crafts, these sessions are about holding space for our māmā a chance to step out of the house, connect with others, learn, and unleash their creativity. 💫

As always, our māmā shared laughs and kōrero while enjoying ginger loaf, fresh fruit, and delicious toasties prepared by our lovely Tira 🍞✨

Last week, we embarked on a trial basis, a collaborative journey to bring wellness to our māmā.

Working alongside Te Waka Aorangi, we sought to introduce mātauranga Māori through mirimiri to māmā who may have never experienced this healing modality before.

We operated directly out of their facility at the bottom of 17th Ave in Tauranga, bringing this kaupapa directly to where the need is.

To ensure accessibility, we removed common barriers -travel, cost, and time so we could truly awhi māmā on their wellness journey.

Some māmā left feeling elevated, while others left feeling grounded, mirimiri worked its healing in a unique way for each of the wāhine we encountered. We waited, welcomed, and farewelled each māmā with aroha, holding space for whatever they brought with them and however they needed to leave.
