Kua p**a te rangahau hou mō ngā kohuki reo Māori. 📝

Te Mātāwai has published a new report called ‘Everyday Experiences of Te Reo Māori Trauma’ by Dr Mohi Rua.

It highlights the barriers caused by trauma that prevent the effective revival of te reo Māori. Participants share their stories of successfully working through trauma in their whānau and these can be a source of inspiration for other whānau to combat the ‘whakamā’ many feel with learning te reo. ❤️

✨ Mama Fit 🏋🏾‍♀️

Our last session for 2025 🥹
What a fabulous year to meet new Māmā and pēpi, and strengthen connections all round. To see Māmā step out of their comfort zone, and into the uncomfortable that is, meeting new people and working out in a new environment 💃🏾

It has been amazing to see Māmā go from strength to strength! Using heavier weights and most importantly, making sure their technique is correct to prevent injuries.

Having Tanya dedicate her time, and share her energy and mātauranga with the Māmā is always a pleasure to witness. Having our Māmā Maia ladies share cuddles with the babies and their wisdom with Māmā is always a high and one of the best parts of our mahi 🤗

So please, if you can, join us tomorrow for a shared lunch 🥰

Workout will be the same time, 11am and kai together at 12pm. Bring whatever you can to add to our spread.

37 Station Road, Te Puke.

We will be back on Tuesday 27th January 2025 💫

Our final session of Te Hā Haumanu was all about self-care and what that looks like for each of us. We all had different ideas of what self-care means, but we agreed on one thing as māmā, we give and give and give, and it’s vital that we step back and weave more care into our own lives.

We treated ourselves to clay mud masks, a kawakawa cleansing facial bar, and a nourishing coconut oil face massage. To close the day, we shared our reflections while soaking in a detoxifying foot spa with Poutiri Wellness Centre

What an great, informative mini session we had with our wonderful Danni the dietician today after Mama Fit ✨

She shared her wealth of knowledge around proteins, calorie intake, hydration levels and the effects on a postpartum Mamas body 🥗🍑🍉🍖

She specializes in all things Mama related whether it is during your hap**anga, after you have had baby and to support your breastfeeding journey🤱🏾

Thank you to those Mama who came, listened and interacted with Danni and a huge thanks to Danni for your time and aroha 🥰

One takeaway was her noticing our workout with the equipment and exercises we do at Mama Fit and how beneficial it is to have this space, this access to a service, that is so valuable for women as we age 🤗

Mama Fit will be wrapping up in a couple of weeks 🥹

Our last session for this year will be Tuesday 9th December and we shall celebrate it with a shared lunch. If you have been an OG, have come for a season, a short while or a couple of weeks, nau mai haere mai, come and join our final session and shared Kai in 2 weeks time ❤️ with Poutiri Wellness Centre
