Thai Touch is proud to celebrate a milestone as our founder, Orasa, received a UNESCO award in Bangkok — an honour given to only 27 businesses worldwide for preserving and sharing Thai culture. 🙌🏽
What began in 2011 as a small, heartfelt studio in Bethlehem has grown into three thriving locations across Tauranga, nearly 70 team members, and a 5-star reputation for exceptional Thai massage.
This achievement reflects the dedication of our team and the trust of our incredible clients. Thank you for being part of our journey! 💛

Thai Touch is Orasa's dream come true. Thai Touch is also Orasa's happiest ever accident. Both began when Orasa flew back to her native Thailand to deal with a medical emergency in early 2011. Between fortnightly medical procedures in Bangkok, Orasa had time on her hands. She chose to invest that time learning Thai massage therapy. By the time she returned to Tauranga, her medical issue was completely resolved. And Orasa knew enough Thai massage therapy techniques to have shaped a vision.
Orasa's vision was for a business that made the most of her Thai heritage. It was for a business that helps Kiwis live their best lives. Lives with a routine that affords them true relaxation. Lives free of aches and pains. Lives relieved of stress. Her vision was for a team of skilled therapists resolving those aches, pains and stress without resort to medications. In turn, those therapists would be well rewarded for their skills in New Zealand. They could send funds home to support families in rural Thailand. They could learn English as a window onto our increasingly global culture. And they would make up a team of Thai ambassadors bringing their gentle and smiling presence to God Zone.
Fast forward seven years and the Thai Touch vision has fine lines. Thai Touch has grown from start-up into a respected brand and business in its home town of Tauranga. Across its three studios, Thai Touch now treats an average of 100 clients daily. That's a fair few siezed shoulders, stiff necks and sore backs sorted each week. And it's a sizeable lowering of stress for the Tauranga population on a regular basis. Thai Touch is home to twenty skilled massage therapists. We suspect this is the largest group of Thai massage therapists in New Zealand. Every one of them has a story to tell. Every one is grateful to New Zealand for what they can now do for their families at home in Thailand.
And if we fast forward another seven years? We see a future with Kiwis more in charge of their own wellness. They will replace some of their dependence on a medication-driven health system. Intead, they will make personal life-style choices. Choices that stop them becoming ill in the first place. Choices that will include effective, affordable Thai massage therapy. And to empower Tauranga residents further, we will develop and offer training in Thai massage techniques. Then they can deliver the benefits of routine massage to their own families without even leaving home!
As of 2018, there are three Thai Touch studios in Tauranga:
- 17 Ninth Avenue: the original Thai Touch studio right by PaknSave. Set in sub-tropical gardens and with off-street car-parking.
- 12A Prince Avenue: the spacious Thai Touch studio in downtown Mount Maunganui. Just metres from Mount Maunganui Mainstreet. If you are stepping off a cruise ship, the studio is just 300 - 400 m from the terminal.
- 222 SH 2 Bethlehem: our newest studio, is similarly light and airy to the Mount studio. It has heaps of off-street car-parking. Look out for the green Thai Touch road sign near Harcourts and Countdown on SH2 to avoid confusion with other massage offerings in Bethlehem!
With every wave of new therapists that join us from Thailand, we are even more wowed by the depth of skills and experience that we can provide in Tauranga. We guarantee to wow you too when you visit.
Whether you are a day visitor or long term local, we look forward to welcoming you into the Thai Touch family.
