MANY OF YOU MAY HAVE EXPERIENCED SOMETHING VERY DIFFERENT WHEN VISITING US HERE AT KORU BODY SOUL;
MATEKITE & WAIRUA EXPERIENCES.

Please share your experiences as a NEW POST.

Matakite and Wairua Experiences:
Matakite could be described as a Māori description for a universal experience of “heightened intuition”. Other terms are rehu, matatuhi, mata, poropiti, matamata aitu, niu, raurau, rotarota. Matakite can be experienced through all five senses and even beyond sensory perception. Matakite may be seen as a local expression of an experience that is recognised in many cultures around the world, but which is uniquely filtered through the Māori cultural lens and which has a particular connection to whakapapa.

Prior to colonisation, people experiencing matakite were considered vital members of Māori society. Matakite would have been recognised from a young age, and the person would have been guided through the experiences by a tohunga (expert).

The loss of traditional knowledge on matakite is a result of the colonisation of Aotearoa by the Crown and the passing of legislation such as the Tohunga Suppression Act. This has meant that people experiencing matakite generally lack the sort of spiritual guidance they need in order to understand these experiences.

Some common signs can be:

Perceiving the mauri, which is an aura of light radiating from all animate life.

The ability to find lost things.

Receiving messages or tohu (signs) from tupuna (ancestors).

Whakapapa connection (someone in the whanau has had similar experiences.

Uncle Tumu on TV this week.
Uncle Tumu gave both Wiremu & I his absolute blessing many years ago to, in his own words:
"Welcome home you two"
"Come home to help our people with Māori Healing"
"Come bring your tane round home Raylene"

I took Wiremu to Waihi Marae to visit Uncle Tumu & Auntu Sue. Heka Uncle saw us as he was driving out he jumps out of his waka and was near running to hongi us he was so happy to see us.

Wiremu was blown away as Aunty Sue gave us the Grand tour of our Paramount Chief Ariki Tumu
Te Heuheu and his tupuna before him.

Wiremu was laughing as I claim I wasn't brought up on a Marae often like him, but I can take him (via invite) to Pa Ariki hehehe.

My Story

Kia Ora/Welcome.

Since I can remember I had a passion for people, fitness & health. I remember my nannies, my Dad and family members teaching me mirimiri/rongoa, but I thought that was part of life. My Dad would take me to visit whanau/family or take me into the bush to teach me rongoa and mirimiri. Years later as a young woman, I realised I had been handed down their gifts and I had a calling to use that gift to help others and teach my children. My Nannie from Horohoro, Rotorua was a healer many years ago.

I am part Maori, Chinese, Scottish, Irish, Danish, English and French Portuguese and more recently found out we may be Moriori. My late Dad was Ngai Tahu and my Mum is Te Atiawa, Wharekauri, Te Arawa.

I have done many courses but have combined my cultures to offer - Mirimiri/Massage, Romirimi/Deep, Rakau/Stick, Sports, Pregnancy, Baby, Relaxation, Hot Stone, Gua Sha, Corporate & Sports Events massage as well as teach workshops. I travel home and to Rarotonga to offer Community Mirimiri Clinics regularly. My goal is to travel the world to help people so they can help their people.
