Wai = water.

Ko wai koe? Ko wai ahau?
Who are you? Who am I?

Ko wai koe.. Ko wai ahau.
You are water.. I am water.

(An excerpt from Episode 2 of Kia Tāwharautia).

Looking forward to our wānanga on moko this evening, live here at 7.30pm!

The narrative of our belief systems, our māori perspective, our histories, values and philosophies are etched into our skins in indelible ink and scars. It has been described that many things can be taken from you, but only death will take your moko.

We unpack this whakatauki and are committed to the challenges of what we are doing in this modern day and age in terms of delivering to the legacy, the tapu of moko.

This is the proverb we will unpack tomorrow night in Episode 7.. come join us and bask in the depths of kōrero (discussion), mātauranga (knowledge) and perspective that Chaz brings us every time from the Urewera ranges!

Kia Tāwharautia is open to all people of all cultures and heritage, we hold this space to share, learn from and educate each other away from the dis-ease many of us have suffered, known as ‘cultural amnesia’.

Pull up your blanket and settle in for the kōrero whānau - nau mai haere mai (welcome!).. hei āpōpō ❤️
