Medic 1

Medic 1 Medic 1 was established to meet increasing demand for event medics with front line experience (including former nurses and ambulance officers).

Medic 1 Limited was founded by former Ambulance Officers to meet increasing demands by the community for a reliable, professional and cost-effective event medical services provider. In our experience a volunteer with a first aid certificate is not enough. With associates throughout New Zealand, including private ambulance services. Medic 1 is well situated to take care of all your first aid and event medical requirements. Our trained and qualified medics and wear a distinctive uniform, which includes high visibility shirt and safety vest as required. The presence of Medic 1 can help to reassure your staff, spectators, participants and the public by being on-site to provide essential first aid, patient care and basic life support. Proud to support the New Zealand Association of Ambulance Veterans (Trust)

Our Veteran Volunteer and Paid Ambulance Officers - Your community's unseen and forgotten heroes. They need your help!

Have you ever thought about what happened to that Ambulance Officer who, some years ago, was the most important person in your life when you were lying seriously injured by the roadside, having a heart attack, or your child was in a life-threatening situation?

You relied on and trusted this Ambulance Officer to save your life or your child's life, relieve your pain, and be compassionate in your time of need. This they efficiently did for all Kiwis from the cradle to the grave without fear or favour.

So many of these Ambulance Officers who willingly and professionally provided you with this care since leaving or retiring from the ambulance Service require care themselves.

This need arises as they cope in later life with what they have seen, heard and smelled as Ambulance Officers attending tragedies or incidents over many years.

Our Trust was formed by three retired Ambulance Officers who recognised the urgent need for the welfare and support of many of our non-serving or retired colleagues.

We are a completely independent registered Charity/Trust and have no affiliation with the major ambulance providers in New Zealand, ie Hato Hone St John or the Wellington Free Ambulance Service both of which are also registered Charities.

The NZAAV is administered entirely voluntarily by the five trustees. There are no paid staff in the organisation.

All monies raised will be used entirely to meet the aims of our Mission Statement:

"Caring for our Colleagues, our Legacy and our Noble Profession".

More about us

The New Zealand Association of Ambulance Veterans (Trust) was officially registered in July 2024 in response to a clear need for an 'independent' formal body to represent and support ageing and ailing veterans of ambulance services.

Code 1 - Event Medics & Paramedical Services

Code 1 Limited provides Event Medics and paramedical services within the greater Wellington region. As Wellington’s number one provider of event medical services, we confidently manage the first aid, safety and security requirements at events of every size.

We are a reputable provider with First Responders, Paramedics and EMT’s (Emergency Medical Technicians) providing the highest level of emergency care. Our highly skilled Medics have decades of real front line experience with St John or the Wellington Free Ambulance.

All of our contracted EMT’s and Paramedics must provide an authority to practice (ATP) prior to engagement or have gained a recognised qualification to provide first aid coverage. By law, event organisers need to ensure the safety of people attending their event.

Event organisers are required to ensure people attending and impacted by their event are safe and that the event venue is secure. This requirement includes staff, participants, spectators, staff, volunteers, officials, media and the general public.
