Taranaki Pathology Services is a modern diagnostic laboratory and is the provider of community services to the Taranaki region. We operate 4 collection centres. Taranaki Pathology Services was established on 1 February 2020, and is owned by Southern Community Laboratories – New Zealand’s largest network of diagnostic laboratories. The services we offer:
Biochemistry
Cytology
Haematology
Histology
Immunology
Phlebotomy – specimen collection service
Specimen referral service for esoteric testing
As an medical laboratory we:
collect and transport specimens
test, analyse and report on them
provide expert advice and consultation. We employ around 55 staff in our laboratories in our collection centres through the greater Taranaki region. Everyday about 1000 patient samples get registered in our laboratory and we undertake about 4000 pathology tests. Our Values

Due to industrial action, there will be a reduction of services at our blood test centres for the the three days in between Easter and ANZAC Day (22-24 April).
We are also closed on the public holidays of Easter and ANZAC Day. Our 179 Gill St centre will be open on Saturday 19 and 26 April between 8am and 11am.
Please plan your visit either before or after this period, and check the details on our website to check we are open.
Due to strike action on 5 and 7 February, our services will be significantly reduced across Taranaki.
Bell Block and Stratford will be open on strike days.
For all other locations, please visit us before or after these dates.
