The DANA-i is Sooil’s newest insulin pump with a system that forms part of one of the most intelligent glucose management systems in the world, with improved BLE 5.0 Bluetooth and CamAPS FX compatibility. It is the natural successor to the DANA RS insulin pump, which already has a substantial following in New Zealand among the DIY Closed-Loop Community. As well as supplying innovative devices, Intuitive Therapeutics believes that providing high-quality personalised training and support is an essential component of empowering people to leverage technology to unleash the very best of health and quality of life. Kia ora type 1 whanau,

Our research team is inviting people with type 1 to join a 9-month clinical trial of a new patch pump system (“Patch-APS”). This system pairs a small patch pump (Medtrum Nano) with advanced software to automatically adjust insulin and help improve glucose levels.

During the study, you’ll receive dietitian support and may be offered additional medications such as Metformin, Vildagliptin, or Tirzepatide. We’ll look at glucose outcomes, as well as quality of life, daily burden, and overall treatment satisfaction. The study was approved by the Health and Disability Ethics Committees (reference: 2025 FULL 23337).

The study may be especially helpful for people who find carb counting and meal announcements tricky. We are currently looking for people from the Dunedin/Otago area, with more sites opening soon.
