Sean Barnes on why male friendships need the same intentional maintenance as physical fitness.

The small things - a monthly pub quiz, a Wednesday morning catch-up, a quick text to check in - these are what keep connections strong.

It's not about grand gestures. It's about showing up consistently.

💚🌏 World Mental Health Day 2025 🌏💚
“Mental health is a universal human right.”

At Ember, we believe in an Aotearoa where everyone is supported to be who and what they want to be.

Mental health is about more than the absence of distress — it’s about belonging, purpose, and the freedom to live as your full self. 🌿

Today, we join people across Aotearoa and the world in standing for hope, understanding, and human rights in mental health.

Reach out. Listen. Share your story.
Every small act of connection helps create a country where no one is left behind, and everyone has the chance to thrive. 💫

🧡 Together, let’s keep building an Aotearoa where wellbeing is possible for all.

Here's what 3,000 men around the world are doing at 6am every Wednesday.

At WNOW (When No One's Watching) chapters around the world, men gather for bodyweight exercise, 60 pushups to honour the 60 men who take their lives every hour, a sharing circle where they talk about whatever's on their minds, then coffee.

It's simple. It's early. And blokes are showing up because it fills a gap they didn't realise was there. Sean Barnes explains why this format works and how "social fitness" is just as important as physical fitness.

Full episode out now on Take it From Us with Kent Johns.

It’s Day Three of Mental Health Awareness Week – and today’s theme is Be Active / Me kori tonu 🧡

At Ember, we know being active isn’t about doing a big workout – it’s about simple movement that feels good.

Try this from home: put on your favourite song and gently sway, stretch, or dance until the track ends 🎶

Just one song can lift your energy and clear your mind.

Being active with whānau or friends can help you stay motivated, strengthen connections, and make it more fun 🤝

It’s not about performance – it’s about movement that helps you feel alive.

Show how you’re topping up together by sharing your moves using the hashtag 💪

The Mental Health Foundation is giving away a $200 Prezzy card for people who join in. Check out the link in their bio 🔗
