Introducing another Super Star Technician Cathy 🤩

Cathy started her career here at the pharmacy - working after school, in the shop. After high school Cathy then entered the dispensary and became a pharmacy technician.

✨What is your role and what does a typical day look like?
I'm a Pharmacy Technician and a normal day for me involves serving customers, processing and dispensing prescriptions, putting stock away and the filing of all completed prescriptions. Every day is busy and varied - no two days are the same and there's always something new to learn.

✨A fun fact about me:
I've been a musician for the Catholic Church since I was 14 years old, a legacy from my late Dad. I hope I'm making him proud.

✨If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I would love to be able to communicate with animals!

✨What do you enjoy about serving the Temuka Community?
Since I've lived in Temuka most of my life and know a good number of our patients, I like being a familiar face, and going above and beyond for them. I enjoy building relationships with our regular customers, whether it be helping them understand their meds, offering advice on over the counter products or just having a yarn... it's very rewarding.

Still stuck with a nagging cough long after your cold? 😩

You’re not alone, many people are dealing with a dry, irritating cough that just won’t go away after a cold, flu, or chest infection.
Often called a post-viral cough or '100 day cough' as it can linger for 3 to 8 weeks - sometimes even longer.

Triggers include;
•Post-nasal drip: Mucus dripping down the throat, especially at night, can trigger the cough reflex.
•Cold air: Breathing in chilly air can irritate sensitive airways.
•Throat & airway inflammation: Even though your cold is gone, the irritation takes longer to settle.
•Asthma flare-ups: If you’re asthmatic, viral infections can make symptoms worse.

❎The bad news: Antibiotics won’t help - this is usually viral.

The good news: There are simple ways to ease the symptoms:
✅Sip warm honey drinks to soothe your throat
✅Suck on lozenges to boost saliva and coat your throat
✅Use cough suppressants if needed
✅Keep warm! Use a scarf over your mouth outdoors and try to breathe through your nose to reduce irritation.
