As food companies start to catch on to the value of ‘organic’ to the bottom line of their business, some very dubious ingredients are sliping through the ‘certified organic’ loopholes. This fantastic article by nutrition geek Cyndi Lovetto (love that brain of yours!), takes a closer look at this phenomenon, so once again, you, the consumer, can make an informed decision. As she states - and I wholeheartedly agree - buying real food single organic ingredients and making your own meals is always going to be the easiest way to know what your eating. But I get that convenience foods have their place occasionally. So empower yourself with knowledge, and always read the ingredient list, not the marketing hoo haa. Yes I said hoo haa… as my mind can not find the words today!
Cyndi O'Meara takes an indepth look at organic certification and explains that, just because a food is certified organic, it does not mean that it is healthy for you.
