Yesterday, we put your implant knowledge to the test with this classic hip stem ID challenge.

The correct answer: C - Buechel-Pappas Stem (Endotec Inc., South Orange NJ)

Interesting Fact – This hip implant was one of the few to feature titanium femoral heads with a titanium-nitride coating. These titanium alloy femoral heads were coated with a polished 6- to 10-μm thick layer of titanium-nitride ceramic (TiN) (Ultra-Coat, Endotec, Inc.).
