“We don’t mull over the things that don’t happen – we always just focus on the things that do happen. Showing the kids hard work, persistence, doing something that you believe in and backing yourself – that’s first and foremost for us.”

Room temperature 🌡 is important for adults too!
Did you know the right room temperature can make bedtime smoother?
Children drift off faster when their environment supports the body’s natural cooling rhythm. Keeping the bedroom around 19–20°C helps signal the brain that it’s time to sleep.

Too warm? Expect tossing, turning, and longer settling times. A simple trick: give your little one a warm bath an hour before bed—the cool-down afterwards tells the body it’s ready for rest.

The first six years of life represent the most neurologically formative time in a child’s development. During this window, the brain and nervous system build the foundation for posture, coordination, learning, emotional regulation, and adaptability.

For chiropractors, this is a critical period to assess and support structural and neurological balance. Subtle imbalances left unchecked in these early years can shape compensatory patterns that affect long-term growth and function.

By applying specific pediatric spinal and cranial protocols, we can help ensure children are given every opportunity to thrive—now and in the years ahead.

5 great tips from Wild Roots Chiropractic 💗

Your nervous system runs your entire body — and your spine is its protective home. This week, as we dive into Chiro 101, here are 5 simple ways to keep your nervous system and spine in top shape:

1️⃣ Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Your spinal discs need water to stay flexible and healthy. Aim for 8 glasses a day. 💧
2️⃣ Mind your posture. Sitting or standing tall reduces strain and keeps your spine aligned. 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️
3️⃣ Move daily. Walking, stretching, or yoga helps keep your spine flexible and nerves firing. 🚶‍♀️🧘‍♂️
4️⃣ Get regular adjustments. Chiropractic care supports realignment and optimal nervous system function. 👐
5️⃣ Manage stress. Relaxation techniques like deep breathing help calm your nervous system and ease tension. 🧘‍♀️

Your nervous system and spine work together to keep you healthy — give them the love they deserve! ❤️

This is how an imbalance begins. Depending on how the imbalance unfolds, it could result in FDS. Primitive reflexes don’t totally disappear, but rather than being independent of brain function, they come under control of the brain. The brain breaks them up into bits and pieces and reassembles them to create smooth coordination of complex movements. It is possible to correct or at least improve the trajectory of errant development, which we address in the book "Disconnected Kids"

Yes this has some big neuro words in it but it explains why it is so important that little ones are checked early in life!

“In addition to these vital cranial nerves, the brainstem itself plays a crucial role in the growing child by integrating sensory information about the world around them. Specifically, the vestibular nuclei within the brainstem receives signals from proprioceptors—sensory receptors located in muscles, tendons, joints, and the inner ear. This information is then transmitted from the vestibular nuclei to specialized areas of the cortex, including the primary sensory areas (visual, auditory, somatosensory) and association areas. These areas work together to process and interpret input from different senses, allowing for a coherent perception of the environment.

Interruptions in the transmission of this information can lead to a myriad of neuro-developmental delays and, if not resolved early in life, the older child has to learn ways to adapt to the misconstrued sensory information. In many cases, this whole adaptation and misinformation process proves too taxing on the developing nervous system and the result is an overstimulated human who is at constant battle with their environment.” – Lynn Gerner, DC

Breastfeeding challenges are often rooted in the neuro-biomechanical imbalances affecting a baby’s spine, cranium and nervous system. Left unresolved, these early struggles may develop into delays in speech, motor skills or even impact long-term neurodevelopmental health.

Gentle pediatric chiropractic care can help restore both comfort and function. Understand the anatomical and neurological systems that play into breastfeeding—keep reading this full article by Dr. Lynn Gerner now in the latest issue: https://pathwaystofamilywellness.org/breastfeeding/breastfeeding-challenges-a-window-to-your-babys-brain.html
