Can you feel my stoke from my first wintery surf in Gisborne for the year! and it’s late August already 🙃 good things take time to happen!

Getting into cold water takes a forward feeling attitude that the reward is worth the pain (but also having a warm wetsuit, booties, wearing a merino teeshirt underneath and a hood on the head make it a waaay easier! Gotta have the tools for the job!

Turning it all upside down! Having a baby sure does that! But I’m into it!

Never one to shy away from throwing it all up in the air to see where it next lands, juggling a baby is 100% that. Who knows what will happen today, or in 5 mins time! Going with the flow has radically developed more meaning.

Luckily I only need one hand to make a post and connect with a world beyond my reclining nursing chair. This is a literally single handed business lol 😆

Hitting the six week mark as a new mum and we’ve reached the end of the tunnel and entered the beautiful light at the other end! I’m now joyfully experiencing my new world order on the other side of birthing my dear daughter. Pulled apart by the spiritual and physical magnificence that birthing is, now slowy but surely reforming into Laura Marsh Artist a.k.a DJ Laura Lush a.k.a. Catarina’s Mum. Today is a very good day and there will be endless countless more them 💗

Word to all the mothers who have had it tough and had their mental and physical health challenged by birth and the crazy hard time that is the first six weeks. Doesn’t matter how many people say it’s a hard time, you only realise when you’re in deep. Only now can I see how my culture isn’t structured to support new mothers, we have lost so much of what ought to be natural care. Nice one Westernism.

Wassup Mothers and Parents! I’ve crossed over and joined the Mum Club… it’s been one hell of an initiation! Catarina Rosa was born 5 weeks ago, dragged into the world by forceps, and what a crazy ride it’s been as we all get to know each other. Word to her Dad Thiago Carlos De Melo 💗

Craziest thing is that no matter what someone tells you about how hard or how rewarding birthing and looking after a newborn baby is, there’s no way of understanding how incredibly challenging and how much it will pull you apart and put you back together in an entirely new way until you’re in deep!

Baby lesson: there’s no getting out of this, so I’d better focus on the joys and work with radical acceptance of all the hard bits.
