Measles cases are on the rise in Wellington – are you protected?

Measles spreads fast – but the good news is MMR vaccinations are fully funded for those who need them.

Not sure if you've had both doses?

Check My Health Record (for records since 2005)
Check your child’s Tamariki Ora/Well Child book
Call the Vaccination Helpline: 0800 28 29 26
Born before 1969? You're likely already immune
Born after 1969? You need two doses of MMR to be fully protected

If you’re unsure, give us a call on (04) 389 9955 and we can help confirm your status.

Feeling unwell?

If you have a fever, cough, runny nose, sore/red eyes, or a measles-like rash, please call us first, don’t come into the clinic. We’ll advise you on what to do next.

Ready to get vaccinated?

Book with our nursing team today - call (04) 389 9955 or book via Vensa.

Let’s keep our Newtown community safe and healthy.

Measles cases are on the rise in the Wellington region, and it’s more important than ever to check that you and your whānau are protected.

Free Home Fire Safety Visits for Over 60s

Did you know Fire and Emergency New Zealand offers free home fire safety visits for people aged 60 and over?
During these visits, trained fire and emergency staff will:

Check your home for fire safety risks

Help install smoke alarms or replace faulty ones

Provide advice to keep you and your whānau safe

Supply smoke alarms if you cannot afford to purchase them

This is a fantastic opportunity to make sure your home is as safe as possible. Fires can happen quickly, and working smoke alarms are one of the most effective ways to protect lives.

If you or a loved one is over 60, ask us at Newtown Medical Centre about arranging a visit, or head to fireandemergency.nz to learn more.

Keeping our community safe starts at home — and this free service makes it simple.
