🌿 Relieve Back Pain While You Sleep 🌿

Are you waking up in the middle of the night or the morning with a stiff or achy back? Sometimes, it’s not just what you do during the day that matters – how you sleep plays a huge role in how your back feels! Here are two simple ways to support your spine while you rest:

📸 Picture 1: Pillow Between the Knees (Side Sleeping)
This position helps keep your hips, pelvis, and spine aligned, reducing the twisting forces that can aggravate your lower back. Place a firm pillow between your knees to stabilize your body and relieve pressure on your sacrum and lower back.

📸 Picture 2: Pillow Under the Knees (Back Sleeping)
Lying on your back can be great for spinal health, but it’s even better with a pillow under your knees. This position helps maintain the natural curve of your lumbar spine, reduces compression in your lower back, and promotes better circulation while you sleep.

✨ Pro Tip: Pair these with gentle stretching and mindful breathing before bed or in the morning for even better results!

Your back works hard all day – give it the support it deserves at night. Sweet dreams and happy healing! 🌙

Dr Terina Hingston (Chiropractor)

Te Arawa, Ngati Hine, Ngati Maniapoto, Tuwharetoa

Born and raised in Rotorua, my early education began at Te Kohanga Reo o Pukeroa Oruawhata and progressed to Rotorua Primary School and Rotorua Lakes High School.

I grew up in a multi-generational home, where my sisters and I were raised collectively by our grandmother, our great-aunt, and our parents. We grew up immersed in stories of connectivity to people and places, and respect for spirituality and traditional practices. It is through my upbringing that I developed ‘healing hands’ and a desire to help others.

My formal studies began at the University of Auckland where I attained a Certificate in Health Science, followed by further studies at AUT to attain a Diploma in Applied Science. I then progressed to the NZ College of Chiropractic in Auckland where I became a qualified Doctor of Chiropractic. My approach to the holistic well-being of patients focuses on understanding their individual needs. Beyond chiropractic, I am experienced in recognizing what a patient needs in order to optimize your nervous system and in doing so may help resolve any discomfort you may experience . Now back in my hometown of Rotorua, I look forward to providing chiropractic care from my private clinic in Rotokawa.
