Pro Clima New Zealand

Pro Clima New Zealand Supplier of air & weathertightness building systems for health, durability & energy efficiency.

We all want to live in homes or work in buildings that are healthy, energy efficient and friendly to our environment. Pro Clima’s airtightness and weathertightness building system, in combination with effective insulation and appropriate ventilation, creates an energy efficient, low allergen emitting, comfortable, healthy home or place of business. Pro Clima’s patented system also ensures the long term effectiveness of the insulation and the structural durability of the building by protecting it from moisture damage, thereby making sure your healthy, energy efficient and eco friendly environment remains that way for many years in the future. Pro Clima has been providing intelligent airtight and windtight building solutions from Germany to the world since 1981. Lothar Moll, Director of Pro Clima in Germany and New Zealand, is a world leading building physicist and expert on airtightness systems. In 1994 he discovered the MVTR – moisture vapour transmission rate variable membrane, the Intelligent part of INTELLO, which became part of the patented pro clima Intelligent Airtightness System (IAS). According to the ecologicalbuildingsystems.com website, Pro Clima “leads the field in the development and manufacture of intelligent high performance sealing systems for thermal insulation in constructions”. In 2007, Lothar came to New Zealand and saw the need for the Pro Clima system here. Pro Clima NZ Ltd opened its doors in 2008 and has an ethical commitment to providing energy efficient, healthy, dry homes and buildings for New Zealanders.

ESSENTIALS OF BUILDING PERFORMANCE – COMING TO WHANGAREI!
Our hands-on Essentials of Building Performance training is coming back to Whangarei!

Join the Pro Clima technical team for three hours of practical learning, covering:

✅ Installing weathertightness and airtightness systems
✅ Hands-on installation techniques — including recessed windows
✅ Real project insights and compliance with the NZ Building Code & NZS 3604
✅ CPD & LBP points available (30 CPD or 3 LBP)

🗓️ When: 15-16 October 2025
📍 Where: NorthTec, Whangarei Campus

Not sure what airtightness and weathertightness really mean?
This is your chance to learn how to keep homes dry and mould-free by managing water and moisture flow through the building envelope — while conserving energy and creating healthier indoor environments.

Discover how to design, specify, and build energy-efficient, healthy homes that last.

✅ Three cities done — one more to go!

Wellington is your last chance in 2025 to complete ATTMA Level 1 training and exam.

This isn’t just for Passive House projects — airtightness testing is becoming essential for every well-performing building. Whether you’re working on Homestar, Green Star, or just want to deliver better, healthier, and more efficient homes, this is the skillset you need.

📍 Wellington: Practical – Thu 9 October | Exam – Fri 10 October

2026 dates will be announced towards the end of the year, but if you want to get ahead (and avoid last-minute scrambling for compliance), now’s the time.

It was great to have the team from Strata Architects visit our Penrose training centre last week for a hands-on practical building science session.

If your design team wants to better understand vapour control, dew points and building control layers for new builds and retrofits, get in touch with us to arrange a time for your own hands-on session.

Upskill at the Pro Clima Hub: An Intro to the Passive House System

When: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Friday 17 October 2025

Where: Pro Clima Hub, Penrose, Auckland

We all share a common goal: to create healthy, durable, and energy-efficient buildings. The reality is that achieving this requires more than just good products; it requires a deep understanding of the whole building as an integrated system.

This one-day course, taught by certified Passive House designer Jessica Winter, cuts through the noise and gets straight to the fundamentals of building science. It’s designed to give you the confidence to move beyond simply meeting the minimums and to understand why a systematic approach—verified by energy modelling—is the only way to guarantee a home will perform as it should.

What does it take to build a home that stays a steady 20°C year-round — without cranking the heat? ❄️🔥

In this episode, Casper Valintin takes us from his international upbringing to building his own Passive House in Hamilton. With 400mm roof insulation, a fully insulated slab, and a Zehnder ground-source ventilation system, Casper has fine-tuned his home to deliver comfort, efficiency, and performance.

His story shows how the right design choices can create homes that work smarter, not harder.

That tricky window-wall junction where E2 meets H1 — keeping water out and heat in — is still widely misunderstood.
Join Rob Campion for a talk as old as time, featuring the release of a two-year MBIE–BRANZ research project on recessed windows.
