Pro Clima New Zealand

Pro Clima New Zealand Supplier of air & weathertightness building systems for health, durability & energy efficiency.

We all want to live in homes or work in buildings that are healthy, energy efficient and friendly to our environment. Pro Clima’s airtightness and weathertightness building system, in combination with effective insulation and appropriate ventilation, creates an energy efficient, low allergen emitting, comfortable, healthy home or place of business. Pro Clima’s patented system also ensures the long term effectiveness of the insulation and the structural durability of the building by protecting it from moisture damage, thereby making sure your healthy, energy efficient and eco friendly environment remains that way for many years in the future. Pro Clima has been providing intelligent airtight and windtight building solutions from Germany to the world since 1981. Lothar Moll, Director of Pro Clima in Germany and New Zealand, is a world leading building physicist and expert on airtightness systems. In 1994 he discovered the MVTR – moisture vapour transmission rate variable membrane, the Intelligent part of INTELLO, which became part of the patented pro clima Intelligent Airtightness System (IAS). According to the ecologicalbuildingsystems.com website, Pro Clima “leads the field in the development and manufacture of intelligent high performance sealing systems for thermal insulation in constructions”. In 2007, Lothar came to New Zealand and saw the need for the Pro Clima system here. Pro Clima NZ Ltd opened its doors in 2008 and has an ethical commitment to providing energy efficient, healthy, dry homes and buildings for New Zealanders.

A thoughtful backyard build on a 1930s Lyall Bay site, this project article explores a flexible, future-proofed second residence designed for performance, privacy and low-maintenance living.

With generous light-filled spaces, smart planning that avoids resource consent, and an airtightness and insulation spec that exceeds current H1 requirements, it’s a great example of what’s possible on an underutilised urban section.
