This is what 4 months of consistent lifestyle change can do in a 60 year old male.

January → May:

Total cholesterol: 5.0 → 4.1
LDL: 3.4 → 2.7
Triglycerides: 1.0 → 0.6
Cholesterol/HDL ratio: 4.3 → 3.8

And here’s the important part…

He actually came OFF statins in January.

What changed?

Not a detox.
Not a magic supplement.
Not an extreme diet.

He:
• reduced alcohol
• increased exercise
• dropped a clothing size
• became more consistent with his health habits

This is why I keep saying health markers can improve dramatically when people focus on the basics properly.

The triglyceride drop is especially impressive and often reflects improved metabolic health, better insulin sensitivity and lower processed food/alcohol intake.

At 60 this matters.
This isn’t just about “better bloods”. This is about improving future mobility, cardiovascular health, energy, cognition and independence.

Lifestyle medicine works.

Are you a man who knows your health has slipped a bit?
Tired,
heavier,
drinking more than you should,
less fit than you used to be and putting everyone else first?

You do not need to wait for a health scare.

Most people think fibre is just… fibre.

But different fibres do different jobs.

Think of them like tools.

Resistant starch
Found in cooled potatoes, rice and green bananas.
Feeds good gut bacteria and helps gut health.

Oat fibre
Helps lower cholesterol AND feeds gut bacteria.
One of the best all-round fibres.

Inulin
Found in garlic, onions and artichokes.
Great for gut bacteria… but too much can cause bloating.

Psyllium husk
Doesn’t really feed gut bacteria.
Works more like a sponge to help cholesterol and bowel movements.

So the best fibre depends on your goal.

Better gut health?
Resistant starch and inulin.

Lower cholesterol?
Psyllium and oats.

Better poos?
Psyllium.

Your gut loves variety.
Not just one magic supplement.

At your doctor’s check-up, they usually measure your height and weight and work out your BMI. But scientists are now saying there’s another measurement that might tell us even more about our health… your waist size.

A huge study followed over 4,500 adults for 11 years to see who stayed strong and independent as they got older. The researchers tested lots of things like walking speed, balance, grip strength and BMI.

But guess what came out as the best predictor?

Waist circumference.

That’s because fat stored deep around your tummy organs, called visceral fat, is much more harmful than the fat under your skin. Too much of it is linked to things like type 2 diabetes, heart disease and getting weaker as you age.

The interesting part is that two people can have the exact same BMI but very different health risks depending on their waist size.

Measuring your waist is simple:
• Measure around your belly button
• Keep the tape straight
• Don’t suck your tummy in
• Check it every year

Your waist can tell you things the scales can’t.
Not sure where to start?

UPDATED CANCELLATION POLICY

Polite notice to clients of McHale Nutrition Wellness

Thank you all so much for your continued loyalty to McHale Nutrition Wellness, due to an increased demand for appointments and unfortunately one or two last minute cancellations, I have revised our cancellation policy.
Your appointments are very important to me and are reserved especially for you, I completely understand that sometimes schedules adjustments are necessary therefore, I respectfully request at least 24 hours notice for cancellations, preferably longer so I am able to fill at short notice with my waiting list clients.

Cancellation policy -

Please understand that when you forget or cancel your appointment without giving enough notice, I miss the opportunity to fill that appointment time, and clients on my waiting list miss the opportunity to meet with me.
The more notice I have that you can't make the appointment the better the chance of someone else being able to make it.
McHale Nutrition Wellness requires 24 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee- the cost of the service you have booked in for.

Reminder services -

McHale Nutrition Wellness does offer a reminder service by text or message as a courtesy, upon request from the client, a text to confirm your appointments prior to your appointment date can be arranged.
On the occasions I am away on holiday etc texts may not be able to be sent so please understand that ultimately it is your responsibility to remember your appointment dates and times to avoid late arrivals, missed appointments and the cancellation fees.

Deposit -

If you require a service that requires a particularly long appointment time, you may be asked to pay a deposit to secure your booking.

Thanks everyone!
