We’re closing. Well… kinda.

You might’ve noticed: a quiet slate, no posts, no movement. That silence was intentional, a clearing of the space.

Girl Native is closing the doors on our first chapter. And in honour of Matariki, we’re making way for something sacred.

A new era of ritual luxury is arriving. Rooted in whenua. Wrapped in whakapapa. Reserved for those who feel the shift.

It’s not for everyone. But you’ll know if it’s for you.

For generations, the beauty industry has told us how we should look, how we should feel, and what we should change. It has whispered insecurities and sold solutions to problems that don’t exist, making many young wāhine question whether their natural beauty is enough.

I know, because I’ve felt it too.

When I started Girl Native, it wasn’t just about skincare, it was about healing. Not just our skin, but the way we see ourselves. And that’s the essence of rongoā Māori.

Rongoā Māori is more than traditional medicine it’s a way of knowing, of connecting, of honouring Papatūānuku and our Tīpuna. It teaches us that wellness isn’t about erasing imperfections but embracing the natural balance within ourselves. Just like the harakeke we weave, the kawakawa that soothes, and the mānuka that protects.

Through Girl Native, I want wahine to feel empowered in their own skin. To see skincare and beauty as an extension of self-care, as a way to uplift their wairua, not as a way to conform.

So if you’ve ever felt like you weren’t “enough,” know this: you already hold the beauty of generations before you. You are more than a trend, more than a filter. You are the continuation of something deep, meaningful, something resilient, something beautiful but most of all there is only one you.

In a world filled with sameness lean into your uniqueness, your individuality, your vibe ✨
We’re taught to shove our insecurities deep down, to hide them and shove them under the carpet f*ck that! I say lean into your insecurities, shine light on them, face them then turn them into your superpower.

I’m here to shift the beauty narrative. To uplift authenticity and bring healing to our skin, our stories, and ourselves but first it starts with self.

- A journey back to self.

Our Story

Girl Native is a cruelty free + vegan make-up and natural skincare brand created to empower and encourage women across the globe to express herself through - purpose filled beauty and skincare products whilst inspiring body positivity, self-love and inclusivity of all women. Founded in 2018 by Rawinia Rimene (Rahzy).

I created the Girl Native brand to encompass the true essence of beauty, individuality, and cultural diversity. I have a passion for business, design, beauty and equality. Growing up I’ve always enjoyed using makeup and beauty products but I’ve also felt pressure in my generation to look a certain way which fuelled my purpose.

As a Maori woman born in Wellington and bred in Opōtiki Aotearoa - New Zealand I understand first hand the realities of facing social issues and the effect this has on indigenous woman considering individual beauty, self-worth and self-confidence.
