As a Medical Herbalist I drew from my training, and consequently applied in my clinical practice, a predominately scientific, reductionist approach to health and herbs. Using the orthodox pharmaceutical paradigm the body and herbs is broken down into parts – bodily systems, plant constituents. While I appreciate the importance of science and the solid knowledge base my training provided, my heart and gut knows there is so much more to herbs, health and life that this mindset doesn’t allow for. So, I’m on a mission of exploration – of herbs, health and life itself. We are all connected # # # I’ve resisted my calling for this personal mission for many years, but now the draw is just too strong, and hey, maybe it’s the right time – while living in our bus (she’s my Herb Caravan :-) ), with the plan to thoroughly explore NZ, in no rush and with no itinerary. We are forever students as there are thousands and thousands of herbs out there, from all cultures, traditions and parts of the world. My primary fascination is 'weeds' and herbs growing at our 'back door'. I strive to get to know them intimately, including their energy and personality. This page is intended to be a continuously evolving journal of my journey – my personal reflections, thoughts, perspectives and discoveries as I go – They are, of course, subjective and I wouldn’t be surprised if I sometimes even change my mind as I continuously grow and learn. I definitely make no claims of 'being right'. Life is not all about right and wrong, black or white – enjoy the grey. And of course, I don’t know what is best for you. Only you know that – when you truly listen to your heart. Enjoy your journey of discovery. I’m happy (and a little apprehensive) to be starting mine. Much love Herbs, Health and Life itself
