I had a beautiful pre-teen ballerina 🩰 come in for an appointment the other week as her dance teacher had pointed out that although her turn-out (stance pictured below) was looking OK while standing, once she lay down on her back to practice that position she was unable to achieve the same result.
That’s because the turn-out is initiated by rotation of the leg from the hips and Miss 11 had a flinchlock (trapped pressure in our bone from an impact) in the hip area which once outside pressure was applied by lying on her back, didn’t allow her leg to rotate as easily when she was standing. Releasing the flinchlock gained more rotation immediately and continued improvement over the next week as the tightened muscles, fascia and ligaments in that leg unraveled and lengthened.
This can be applied across all our leisure activities and sports – yoga, pilates, gym classes and weight training 🧘♀️🧘🏋️♀️🤸♀️🏊♀️⛳️🏏🎾....
Have you noticed that one pose, stretch or lift is easier on one side compared to the other??? Maybe there is a flinchlock stopping you from gaining full extension???
