Dianne Holwell - Whangarei ConTact CARE ConTact CARE uses Flinchlock Release Therapy to locate and release trapped bone pressure from surprise impacts.

Once pressure has been released the contracted muscle & fascia in that area are able to unravel allowing the body to realign itself naturally.

It's been a really busy start to the year, grateful to have lots of new clients and my wonderful regulars! With all the public holidays and a few days away myself, appointments are sometimes getting out to a couple of weeks ahead. If you need an appointment sooner than what is showing available on the website, please get in touch and I'll see what I can do to make that work 🙂

So... following on from my last post and New Years resolutions... did you make any??
I'm always full of great ideas about what I would like to achieve over the coming year but have also come to realise that me and lists or goals don't really mix - and this year I also realised that that is OK!
I saw this quote and thought it was great as I'm halfway to achieving all these goals already 😉🤩
Just need to add in practising ConTact C.A.R.E and meeting some amazing clients doing it!

Well, so much for my social media presence this year - rather non-existent!! Maybe something to add to the New Years resolution list for next year 🥳
I just want to thank all my wonderful clients for giving Contact Care the opportunity to help them with their aches, pains and injuries this year. I hope that in some way, big or small it offered some type of relief.
Holiday time for me now, but if you do need anything over the next couple of weeks please reach out and I can see what I can do, otherwise bookings available for next year at -

Kids Winter Sports has begun - along with the rain 🌧

I have had a couple of kids book in with sore backs, knees or ankles after their first couple of games.

This isn't too surprising really, over summer their movement has probably looked very different - back yard cricket, surfing, boating, playing in the pool but the introduction of different movements or putting their bodies into new positions (think tackling, running but now holding a ball or hockey stick) can put pressure on different parts of the body that previously had no issues!

The shin splints and "growing pains" come back that they haven't had since last year... perhaps a Contact Care session and release of pressure might be all that is needed to see them thru the season this year!

If your children haven't tried Contact Care before and you'd like to check it out I'm doing $60 sessions for kids in May - book a new client appointment at dianneholwell.com and just leave a note letting me know its under the May special for kids...

I had a beautiful pre-teen ballerina 🩰 come in for an appointment the other week as her dance teacher had pointed out that although her turn-out (stance pictured below) was looking OK while standing, once she lay down on her back to practice that position she was unable to achieve the same result.

That’s because the turn-out is initiated by rotation of the leg from the hips and Miss 11 had a flinchlock (trapped pressure in our bone from an impact) in the hip area which once outside pressure was applied by lying on her back, didn’t allow her leg to rotate as easily when she was standing. Releasing the flinchlock gained more rotation immediately and continued improvement over the next week as the tightened muscles, fascia and ligaments in that leg unraveled and lengthened.

This can be applied across all our leisure activities and sports – yoga, pilates, gym classes and weight training 🧘‍♀️🧘🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♀️🏊‍♀️⛳️🏏🎾....

Have you noticed that one pose, stretch or lift is easier on one side compared to the other??? Maybe there is a flinchlock stopping you from gaining full extension???

Let me know if you are interested in checking this out and I’ll do a half price deal for the month of April * – either message me directly and we can organise a time for you to come in or book at dianneholwell.com

* Session based solely on movement function, please message me if you need further info

You know when you have weeks where the same things keep popping up...well it's been "back" week for me this last couple of weeks!

From cowboys and retired marathon runners to rugby players and gardeners, all with different initial injuries but same complaint - back pain or pins & needles or sciatica.

Some of them even blamed their posture for creating the back pain but have you ever thought about it the other way round and how your injuries may be controlling your posture??

When we get a flinchlock (trapped pressure in our bone from an impact) it pulls our muscle, fascia and ligaments towards it and that bone also becomes heavier for our body to carry. Our body tries to remedy this new internal pressure by placing itself in positions to balance it externally, so a fall on our tailbone may make us start to sit forward on our chair making it look like we are not supporting our back or a fall onto our shoulders means we are now slouching down trying to press them into the back of the chair making it look like we are not supporting our lumbar region anymore - we can't win!

Yes, this new positioning can contribute to your back pain but no matter how much sitting up straight and core strength you build you'll probably still find yourself reverting back to that slouch or twist that for YOUR body is comfortable!

What we do with ConTact C.A.R.E is remove that flinchlock (the cause in the change of position) and allow your body to find it's way back to it's natural balance. It doesn't even have to be a new injury, you may have been told your posture is "wrong" for years, we can still find the cause no matter how old the injury.

When I asked the cowboy when the horse flipped on him he said.... 1976 🤠😁

I've moved... Not far, just around the corner...

My new room is at 120 Lower Dent where Nicole has opened her new Contact Care Clinic! You won't miss it, the signage is pretty clear but I've also added a pic of the building below. There is free street parking outside and we do have 2-3 off street parks available to the right of the building if you get stuck.

Not only do I have a brand new room to work out of I also get the extreme advantage of working alongside an incredibly knowledgeable Contact Care practitioner! Nothing like being able to share ideas, ask questions and continually learn during your working day!!
