☀️ Did you know?

A little sunshine can be good for your wellbeing.

Sunlight helps your body produce vitamin D, which supports strong bones, immunity, and overall hauora. It can also lift your mood and support better sleep by helping regulate your natural rhythms.

Even a short time outdoors each day can make a difference — whether it’s a walk, sitting in the sun, or simply taking a moment to pause.

Remember to enjoy the sun safely:
🧴 Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap
👕 Cover up with protective clothing
🧢 Wear a hat and sunglasses
🌤️ Seek shade, especially during peak UV times

Aroha is expressed through kindness — toward others and toward ourselves.

This Thoughtful Thursday, consider how you can offer care, patience, or compassion in small, meaningful ways.

Movement doesn’t have to be intense to be beneficial.

Stretching, walking, gentle breathing, or time outdoors all support wellbeing. Choose movement that feels supportive, not demanding.

Your body deserves care, not pressure.

💗 Valentine’s Day | Aroha in All Its Forms

Valentine’s Day is a reminder that aroha takes many forms — love for whānau, friends, community, and ourselves.

Today, Āwhina Ora encourages taking a moment to show care and kindness, to reconnect, and to acknowledge the relationships that support our wellbeing.

Aroha begins within and flows outward — strengthening our hauora and the bonds that hold us together.

💧 Did you know?

Your body is made up of around 60% water, so staying hydrated is essential for supporting your hauora.

Water helps regulate temperature, carry nutrients, and remove waste and by the time you feel thirsty, your body is already needing more.

Most people need around 8–10 cups (2–2.5L) each day, and even more when it’s hot, you’re active, or your body needs extra support.

Signs you may need more fluids:
🤕 Headaches
😴 Tiredness
😣 Poor concentration

Best choices:
✅ Water
✅ Milk or smoothies
✅ Herbal teas
✅ Soup

Try to limit sugary drinks and energy beverages where possible.

💧 How are you staying hydrated today?

🌿 Together we grow

Like the branches of a tree, each hand represents connection — to whānau, community, and one another.

Every person brings their own story, strength, and uniqueness. When we come together in support and understanding, we create a foundation where healing, growth, and wellbeing can flourish.

At Āwhina Ora, we honour the importance of belonging and collective care. Because when one is supported, we are all strengthened.

🌿 Waitangi Day | Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Waitangi Day is a time to reflect on Te Tiriti o Waitangi — its promises, responsibilities, and the ongoing journey we share.

At Āwhina Ora, Te Tiriti underpins the commitment to mana-enhancing, whānau-centred wellbeing, grounded in Mātauranga Māori and guided by partnership, protection, and participation.

Today is an opportunity to honour the past, acknowledge the present, and continue working toward a future where equity, wellbeing, and respect are upheld for generations to come.
