In a world that has gone crazy, Rage is an obvious choice. People often ask why I am so into promoting rage and rose, and my answer is simple;
They are two sides of the same coin.

Women and children, especially girl children, are taught to be seen, not heard. To be beautiful, pleasing, accommodating, wistfully silent, and so forth. To be angry or speak out is highly unfeminine, ugly, abusive, and low-vibe. What a bunch of gaslighting BS!

These days, women are loud and proud, gaining momentum worldwide by channeling their anger into action. Rage or anger is just an emotion, one that provides boundaries and a clear definition of what is not working. What you do with the anger is what matters.

Yes, Rage can be linked to violence when you haven't connected with this Sacred emotion healthily. However, it is also the compass of discernment, giving you a clear definition of NO, with your body as the barometer.

Rose petals connect us to the Beauty Way, full of gratitude and humility; the thorn and stem give boundaries and courage. She also encourages us to remember the Sacred Divine Feminine living in us all! It has been a while since I have written anything, as I took many months off to recalibrate after long years of retreats, dietas, ceremonies, serving medicine, supporting people’s health, and finding balance in my life as a single mother/solopreneur.

In my lodge yesterday, we sang, prayed, laughed, and cleansed all the chaos and confusion that has shown up in the world, in the simple act of returning to the elements. And while I am safe here in the Andes of Peru, I feel the land of my birth really going through some necessary, if not overly complicated and flat-out ridiculous, growing pains. The amount of times I say WTF on a daily basis is too much.

So today, when I took the dogs on the mountain, honoring the last day of this birth year, I held a prayer in my heart of love for everyone...including the schmucks that don’t seem to deserve it. Let’s be clear, I am not a we-should-love-everyone-regardles-of-abc kinda gal. I am just not that evolved.

However, I know what it means to do stupid things out of pain, rejection, and longing for love outside of oneself. Haven’t we all been there? I think if we had more love, not sexy or romantic interpretations, but the deep I SEE YOU love that comes from compassion, understanding, and honesty, even when it is hard, we probably wouldn’t be in most of the situations we are in now.

It is not lost on me that my two main plant allies (Rose and Huachuma catus) both have thorns of discernment protecting the soft beauty within. I accept these plants ARE me, just as much as they are my teachers.

Leaving this offering, I thought about heartbreak, loneliness, people I miss and long to reconnect with, and people I am glad are no longer around. I thought about love in its many forms, what I have learned, and what barriers I hold onto to keep me “safe”. As I get older, I am slowing down, less quick to judge, but not as open to just any energy. Love is also the boundary of yes versus no. Love is the ability not just to say I am sorry, but to know that there is always more than one side to a story, and not to take on someone else’s share. Love is letting go but staying open to what is healthy and meant for me. (Below)

I just finished this astoundingly beautiful documentary about the spoken word poet Andrea Gibson. A story of love and bravery that had me not just in tears, but in a desire to do better with this precious gift of life, even as the world is burning.

I vaguely remember seeing them performing in Portland, Oregon a very long time ago. But the sound of their poetry is long gone from my ears, so hearing it again tonight was a heartfelt tug in the right direction.

I left the USA 14 years ago after Chinese Medicine school, traveling to Asian and ending up in South America deepening my study of plants. Due to events in my life paving the way for hidden stories living inside me, waiting to be heard, I ended up staying in Peru.

Watching this documentary I pondered the love of craft versus love of a partner. How I long to find a love even a quarter of depth these two bright beings carried, yet I live here. Waiting. Wishing. Sadly aware that it is not my time yet, praying for the person to find me hidden in the Valley as I carry out my sentence in purgatory.

This is not a place teeming with le***an or q***r love, friendship, or community. Sure I have lovely friends and a house for of animals, a son growing into a teenager…but I long for my community. Those who understand the struggles it has (and still does) taken us to be seen, heard, felt, and published. Not just to trade war stories but to lift one another up, cheer each other on.

I mainline content like it is going out of style, yet missing references of happenings that I cannot keep up with. How amazing there is so much content available to us! How proud I am to watch this documentary, or a comedy show, or TV series hit?!!

In this documentary, a light shaped into the title of my favorite, and hands down most romantic song ever, “This must be the place”, reminding me that what I desire most is on its way. A life of love as deep as these two had/have if I just open myself up to the good light.
