Meet La Maestra Alicia and Melissa, the superheroes of Paojilhuasca! đŸŠžâ€â™€ïž

These two ladies run the kitchen, serving us fresh and delicious food daily. All of the meat we eat is hunted directly from the jungle. The river fish and wild meat here contain are no hormones, no antibiotics, no preservatives, and no chemicals.

Did you know that La Maestra Alicia is also our head shaman? Week after week, she prepares plant dietas to clean and purify the body, and leads ceremonies each Friday. For her, being a shaman is not a career — it is a gift to give to her community and the world at large.

A retreat isn’t an escape.
It’s a strategic pause.

You step back—not because you’ve failed, but because you need perspective. You reassess terrain, resources, timing.

This is what a real retreat is meant to be.

Not running away from life, but stepping out of the noise long enough to see clearly again. To rest the nervous system. To listen. To realign before moving forward with intention instead of force.

Here, the jungle holds that pause.
It slows the tempo, strips away excess, and gives space for honest recalibration.

You don’t retreat to give up.
You retreat to return wiser.

Why do many traditions ask participants to avoid cannabis before working with ayahuasca?

From a spiritual perspective, it’s not about judgment — it’s about energetic clarity.

In plant medicine traditions, both ayahuasca and ma*****na are understood as teachers. But they teach in very different ways. Ayahuasca often works through deep emotional truth, purification, and embodied healing. Cannabis can soften, amplify the mind, and shift perception — sometimes creating distance from intensity rather than deeper presence with it.

When both influences are present, it can feel like trying to listen to two teachers giving different instructions at the same time.

This is why many lineages ask other plant spirits to step aside before ceremony — to create a clear channel for the work to unfold with grounding, surrender, and emotional honesty.

Not better. Not worse.
Just different paths, different purposes, different classrooms 🌿
