True healing happens when people feel safe enough to let go. These voices from our retreat — shared with permission — reflect the depth, safety, and care of the process.

For those seeking authentic healing with Amazonian plant medicine, this work goes beyond ceremony.
It’s a path of responsibility, preparation, and integration.

If you feel called to walk this path with integrity and guidance, we’re here.

At Paojilhuasca, we often say the plants are like a video game — each ceremony a new level, each challenge a boss battle with the monsters within. 💫 👾 If you fight the monster, you lose the game and must repeat the level.

Today, we celebrate our Top 4 puking heroes — those with the biggest growth after their work with the medicine.

🌿 Morning Flow at Paojilhuasca
Every morning before breakfast, we gather under the maloca to move, breathe, and awaken the energy that connects body, mind, and spirit. Qigong is a morning ritual here — slow, grounded, alive.

✨ What is Qigong?
An ancient Chinese art of cultivating life energy (“Qi”) through gentle movement, breath, and awareness. It helps us tune into the rhythm of nature and restore balance in the nervous system — preparing us for deeper work with the medicine.

🌱 Why it matters
Qigong teaches us how to listen to the body — a skill that remains essential after you leave the jungle. Keep practicing. Keep breathing. Integration begins with presence.

Exorcism and the Ecology of the Invisible

In the forest, healing is more than medicine—it’s confrontation, purification, and opening. In my new article for Reality Sandwich, I explore how the ancient art of exorcism—far from being superstition—is a potent model for really seeing what lurks beneath our wounds, our traumas, our unseen energy fields.

From a forensic psychiatrist who admitted that science sometimes lacks the language to describe what she saw in a killer’s eyes… to Amazonian malokas where spirals of mapacho, rattles, songs and breath become weapons against invisible intruders—this article walks the boundary between spirit, body and ecology.

The key idea: We are porous creatures, embedded in systems of life and death, of light and shadow. Spirits, energies, presences—they are part of the same ecosystem as trees, insects, bacteria. What vanishes into “mental illness,” “trauma,” or “possession” in one system may be named differently in another.

I wrote this piece for everyone who walks the path of healing—not just with plants, but with consciousness, attention and genuine responsibility.

How do you feel about the “invisible ecology” around you—energies, presences, environments?
How are you cleaning your inner house, tending your spiritual immunity, acknowledging what’s hidden?

Cooking ayahuasca This is how medicine is made: with fire, plants, and people who care.
Everyone takes turns pounding the vines with wooden hammers, the sound echoing through the forest. Boom boom boom. The crushed vines mix with leaves and water in the pot, and the fire begins. For three days and nights it burns, never left alone. Someone always feeding, stirring, watching. It’s work, sweat, rhythm, and silence. It's an act of love and reverence. Aya is cooking.
