🌿 Uña de Gato (Uncaria tomentosa) – Complete Botanical & Shamanic Profile

Common names: Cat’s Claw, Vilcacora, Garabato, Hawk’s Claw
Species: Uncaria tomentosa (primary medicinal species)
Family: Rubiaceae

🌱 Identification & Morphology

Habitat: Amazonian lowland rainforests, especially in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil.

Growth Form: A climbing woody vine, reaching up to 30 m. Climbs trees using distinctive curved thorns shaped like a cat’s claw.

Leaves: Opposite, oval, 5–10 cm long, with stipular curved spines at the base.

Medicinal parts: Inner bark and roots (shaved or powdered). Outer bark is inactive.

🧬 Phytochemical Breakdown – Active Compounds & Effects

1. Oxindole Alkaloids (primary active immune modulators)

Split into two types:

a) Pentacyclic Oxindole Alkaloids (POAs) – immunostimulants

Isopteropodine – boosts phagocytic activity and promotes white blood cell response; strong immune enhancer

Pteropodine – modulates cytokines (IL-1β, TNF-α); supports immune balance, possible neuroprotective activity

Speciophylline – shows mild anti-leukemic activity; immune balancing

Mitraphylline – DNA repair, anti-inflammatory, potential antitumor actions

Uncarine F – possible enhancement of T-cell response; general immune support

b) Tetracyclic Oxindole Alkaloids (TOAs) – immunosuppressive, sometimes antagonistic to POAs

These may dampen the immunostimulant action of POAs. Hence, high-quality products must be standardized to contain low or no TOAs for immune boosting.

2. Polyphenols & Antioxidants

Proanthocyanidins (procyanidins A and B types): potent antioxidants; protect DNA from oxidative stress and slow cellular aging

Catechins & Epicatechins: support cardiovascular health, reduce capillary fragility, and help in inflammatory gut conditions

Quinic acid & derivatives: hepatoprotective, support liver detoxification and recovery after infections or medications

3. Sterols

β-sitosterol – cholesterol-lowering, modulates inflammation, may improve prostate health and hormone balance

Stigmasterol & campesterol – mild estrogenic action; contribute to immune resilience and cellular repair

4. Triterpenes & Glycosides

Unspecified triterpenes that may support wound healing and inflammation regulation

Glycosides have adaptogenic and tissue-restoring properties

🧪 Clinical and Pharmacological Properties

✔️ Immunomodulator:

Normalizes overactive or underactive immune systems depending on the person’s baseline

Increases NK cell activity and phagocytosis

Reduces autoimmune flare severity in RA, IBD, and lupus in traditional applications

✔️ Anti-inflammatory:

Blocks production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (especially TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6)

Improves joint pain, gut inflammation, and muscle stiffness

✔️ Antiviral:

Laboratory evidence of activity against herpes simplex (HSV-1, HSV-2), dengue, influenza, and potential HIV protease inhibition

Likely functions via protease inhibition and immune enhancement rather than direct viral kill

✔️ Antioxidant & DNA protection:

Protects against oxidative DNA damage and supports cellular repair

Used to reduce chemotherapy side effects in traditional Amazonian settings

✔️ Gut & Mucosal Repair:

Used for ulcers, gastritis, leaky gut, IBS, and parasite-related inflammation

Promotes mucosal healing and reduces immune reactivity in the GI tract

✔️ Cancer-Related Activity:

POAs and polyphenols inhibit cancer cell proliferation in vitro (especially leukemia and breast cancer cells)

Functions via immune modulation and DNA protection, not direct cytotoxicity

🐾 Traditional & Ethnobotanical Use

Considered a “master plant” in Shipibo and Asháninka traditions

Used in dietas to treat chronic illness, spiritual weakness, and “disordered blood”

Sometimes administered before or between Ayahuasca ceremonies to strengthen and prepare the body

Said to help remove “bad energy” or “stored trauma” from the body and blood

May be used for men’s sexual health, strength recovery, and cleansing after injury or disease

🌿 Preparation & Dosage

1. Decoction (Traditional Jungle Use)

1 tbsp (5–10 g) shaved inner bark or root per 750 mL water

Boil 15–20 min, reduce heat, simmer covered another 10

Take 1–3 cups daily (divided), on empty stomach if tolerated

Can be refrigerated for 2 days

2. Tincture (1:2 or 1:4 alcohol)

2–4 mL (40–80 drops), up to 3x per day

Best for convenience or combining with other non-acidic extracts

3. Capsules / Bark Powder

300–500 mg 2–3 times daily (standardized extract if possible)

Ideal for long-term immune support

4. Spiritual Use (Dieters Only)

In dieta: plain decoction only, no sugar or mixing

Avoid during menstruation, sexual activity, and stimulation

⚠️ Cautions & Contraindications

Pregnancy & breastfeeding – avoid due to uterine stimulation risk

Organ transplants / immunosuppressants – may interfere with medications

Autoimmune disease – start with low doses; it may regulate or overstimulate depending on person

Bleeding risk – slight blood-thinning effect; avoid before surgery

High blood pressure meds – may cause mild additive hypotensive effect

⏳ Suggested Usage Cycles

General immune boost: 2 weeks on, 2 days off, repeat as needed

Chronic inflammation (e.g. arthritis): 3 weeks on, 1 week off

Dieta (spiritual cleansing): 7–10 days with food, social, and energy restrictions

Acute viral infection: up to 3 doses/day tincture or decoction for 7–10 days

Found this interesting...check the cancer rates by country at the end..

Parasites, Purging & Cancer: A Theory Hidden in Plain Sight

Western medicine rarely talks about parasites unless someone’s just returned from overseas or is visibly infected. It’s treated as a problem of the past or the developing world.

But in countries like Peru, regular purging with medicinal plants — such as piñón blanco/negro, Canva, Ayahuasca, Ojé, Camalonga, and others — is common, especially among indigenous and rural communities.

These purges involve vomiting, diarrhea, and deep bodily cleansing, believed to remove parasites and negative energies. While it may seem strange to outsiders, it’s a normalized health practice in many Amazonian and Andean cultures.

Parasites and Cancer: What the Science Actually Shows

Some parasites are already classified as carcinogenic by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC):

Opisthorchis viverrini → Bile duct cancer

Schistosoma haematobium → Bladder cancer

Helicobacter pylori (a bacterial parasite) → Stomach cancer

These organisms cause chronic inflammation, immune suppression, and oxidative stress — which can damage DNA and lead to tumor formation.

In the West, where anti-parasitic cleansing is not practiced, people may unknowingly carry latent parasites for years, especially due to exposure from pets, meat, contaminated water, and international travel.

This ongoing parasitic burden may play a hidden role in triggering cancer, autoimmune issues, and neurological problems.

Cancer Rates: Peru vs. the West

Based on WHO/Globocan data:

Country
Cancer Incidence (per 100,000)

Peru
~170–190

USA
~400–450

UK
~375–425

Australia
~470–510

Peru’s cancer rate is less than half that of countries like the U.S. or Australia. While some of this may reflect underreporting or limited screening, it’s notable that Peru shows lower rates of colon, breast, and lung cancer (often tied to Western lifestyle), and higher rates of infection-linked cancers like cervical and stomach.

This suggests that the diet, regular purging, lower chemical exposure, and indigenous plant use might be acting as protective factors.

Why Isn’t This Public Knowledge?

Natural purgatives can’t be patented.

There's no clear "mechanism" for Western pharma to latch onto.

The concept of purging “toxins and parasites” is seen as unscientific — even though the outcomes sometimes show spontaneous remission of cancer, especially after practices involving Canva, Kambo, or Amazonian plant diets.

In other words: the system can’t explain it, so it dismisses it.

The Real Theory

Chronic parasitic burden may be a hidden driver of many modern diseases, including cancer. Cultures like Peru’s — who routinely purge, cleanse, and support gut–immune balance through plants — may be preventing cancer naturally, even if they don’t frame it that way.

Less processed food.
More bioactive plant use.
Fewer chemicals.
More spiritual connection.
Result? A biological terrain that doesn't welcome cancer the way Western lifestyles do.

Let me know if you want the mechanistic breakdown of how each of those purge plants might work at the gut or immune level.

29/08/2025

Shipping News:

From yesterday, parcel shipments to the United States have been suspended from over 25 countries, including Mexico, Germany, India, Australia, and others. This is a direct response to the U.S. ending its “de minimis” import exemption, which now requires tax and customs processing on all incoming parcels, regardless of value. As a result, global postal systems are freezing or rerouting U.S.-bound deliveries while they adapt to the new customs demands.

What this means is:

Yes — there’s a major shift happening:

Miami will no longer be the universal sorting/inspection point for Latin America.
Non-U.S. parcels (like Peru → Canada or Bahamas) will likely get rerouted or pushed through faster, without facing the full brunt of the new CBP system.
But during the transition, there will be delays or misroutes if couriers haven’t updated their flight paths or logistics partners.

🛫 3. Three Realistic Outcomes for Latin American Parcels Not Going to the U.S.

✅ A. Parcels get rerouted to new hubs

Couriers and airlines will start avoiding Miami entirely for third-country shipments.

They'll look at new cargo hubs like:

Panama City (Tocumen) – for Caribbean and Central America

Bogotá – for Colombia and onward routing

Mexico City or Cancún

São Paulo or Lima itself, if expanded

This keeps parcels out of U.S. customs jurisdiction and saves cost/delay.

⚠️ B. If still routed via Miami, they might skip detailed inspection

Some parcels may still pass through Miami as cargo transfer but not get opened or taxed unless they’re headed to the U.S.

That said, scanning might still occur, and anything flagged can be held, especially if it’s misdeclared or suspicious.

❌ C. Long-term: Postal agreements may get renegotiated

If Miami becomes too costly or slow, many Latin American and Caribbean countries might renegotiate international postal routing agreements to use non-U.S. sorting centers or build their own customs capacity.

For example, Canada Post and Correos del Perú could strike a direct flight + clearance deal, bypassing U.S. airspace entirely.

🔁 1. Yes — Miami is a Customs Collective Hub (for Latin America)

You’re totally right. For decades, Miami has acted as the "central nervous system" of customs and postal inspection for Latin America and the Caribbean. Here’s why:

Major postal and air cargo routes from Latin America converge there.

Even non-U.S.-bound parcels, like to Canada, Bahamas, Trinidad, Curacao, often get routed through Miami because of flight availability, cost, or processing agreements.

The U.S. (via CBP) had existing “transit inspection” powers — meaning they could inspect those parcels even if they weren’t headed for the U.S., if they passed through their territory.

🧨 2. What’s Happening Now That De Minimis Ended

Now that the U.S. removed the de minimis threshold and added massive bureaucracy, they are:

Overwhelmed at ports like Miami.

Actively prioritizing U.S.-bound parcels due to the surge in customs declarations and tariff processing.

Deprioritizing or bypassing inspection for third-country parcels (e.g., from Peru to Bahamas) if they don’t legally require CBP handling.
