Lucila’s Dream is a documentary rooted in real life, not myth.

It tells the story of Lucila, an Indigenous Shipibo woman from the Peruvian Amazon, whose journey as a healer began long before ceremony. Guided by her father, Leonardo — a master of Amazonian plant medicine with more than seventy years of experience — Lucila underwent years of rigorous training, including strict plant dietas and extended periods of isolation, to learn how to carry this knowledge with care and responsibility.

For those unfamiliar with ayahuasca, this film offers important context. Rather than focusing on visions or rituals, it centers on the human path behind an ancestral practice — the discipline, humility, and lifelong learning required to serve others through traditional medicine.

The documentary invites viewers into a way of life where healing is inseparable from family, land, and daily responsibility. It is a quiet, grounded portrayal of tradition as it is lived, not performed.
