Former well-known national sports official Jonathan Ila is battling one of the world’s most unforgiving genetic condition, Muscular Dystrophy in one of the most vulnerable health systems.

Ila’s a patient who has struggled with Muscular Dystrophy for six long years at the Angau Memorial Hospital.

Muscular Dystrophy is a disorder that slowly destroys the body’s muscles until they can no longer sustain life.

With the health system unable to support patients beyond hospital walls, it has led to a son’s unbroken spirit and a father’s (Kenneth Ila) devotion.

A brief update on Jonathan:
He hasn’t been feeling well this past week, and the family is closely supporting him. We kindly ask for your continued prayers for his strength and recovery.

Despite facing the challenges posed by his medical condition, Jonathan Ila, defied the odds and achieved something truly remarkable.

At the age of 21, while coaching from his wheelchair, Jonathan fearlessly led the PNG Flames in the prestigious AFL International Cup held in Melbourne back in 2017. 🏉🔥
His determination and passion for the sport ignited the flame within his team, inspiring them to reach new heights on the international stage.

Jonathan's extraordinary achievements didn't go unnoticed. In the same year, he was honored as one of the finalists in the SP Sports Awards “Official of the Year” category. 🏆🌟
His exceptional coaching prowess and unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on the sporting landscape, earning him well-deserved recognition among his peers.
