Let's talk about Intermittent Fasting🌱

Day1 and counting....

I am about to attempt a 3 Day Water Fast starting today.

I was not able to attempt it last month as I wasn't ready.

I've started fasting since 8pm last night.

I've been mentally preparing myself for this challenge and since it's the new month, we could say the New Month Vibes have gotten the better of me.😉💪🥳

Anyway, I just wanted to share some insight on the benefits of a 3 Day Water Fast.

Benefits of a 3-Day Water Fast:

1. **Cellular Repair and Autophagy**:

- Fasting stimulates a process called autophagy, where your body clears out damaged cells and regenerates new ones. Studies suggest that autophagy can help protect against diseases and promote cellular health.

2. **Enhanced Insulin Sensitivity**:

What happens when you fast for 24 hours?

When you fast for 24 hours, your body undergoes several physiological changes and processes to adapt to the temporary lack of food intake.

Here is an overview of what happens inside your body during a 24-hour fast:

1. **Glycogen Depletion**

Your body first starts to utilize the glycogen stored in your liver and muscles for energy. Glycogen is the storage form of glucose, and when you don't consume food, the glycogen stores get depleted within the first 24 hours of fasting.

2. **Transition to Ketosis**

The statement "Your health is your wealth" holds profound significance, especially for women over the age of 40.

At this stage in life, we may face various health challenges and changes due to factors such as hormonal fluctuations, menopause, increased risk of certain diseases, and the demands of family and career responsibilities.

Prioritizing our health becomes crucial for overall well-being and quality of life.

For women over 40, focusing on health means investing in their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

It involves adopting healthy lifestyle habits such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, stress management, and regular health check-ups to prevent and manage age-related health conditions.

Hi Ladies,

Beginning of this year, I ran a 21 Days Fasting Program.

Some found it helpful and educational and achieved their short term goals, while others really didn't benefit from it or saw any value.

After I ran the program in three separate batches, I put everything on hold as I was going through some turbulence in my personal life which required me to focus more on myself and my mental health.

It was a real struggle mentally and emotionally as I navigated the uncertainties I encountered all the while feeling guilty for letting so many people down due to my personal choices and decisions.

I'm happy to say, I'm in a better place now. 🥳

I am mentally and emotionally stable to deal with and manage life better.

Anyhow, to cut a long story short, I am happy to announce, I will be starting my Fasting Program again and I hope this time around, I will help and support my community of health conscious women feel their best through Fasting consistently.

The program will start Mid August and run for 30 days.

It is designed for beginners who want to try out Fasting as a method to regain control over their health as well as lose weight and manage it sustainably on a long term basis.

For women who took part in the previous Fasting Program, you're more than welcome to join again.

For the newbies who are curious to learn about and practice INTERMITTENT FASTING, please send me a DM and register your interest.

May is for Mental Health Awareness💭

Women who are forty and above are susceptible to life style diseases due to hormonal changes that our body goes thru and experiences.

It is crucial that we are conscious and mindful of the types of food we eat, our actions and inactions, our habits, our thoughts and our lifestyle which all contribute to your wellbeing and health.

I was asked how I manage my mental health being a full time employee, managing and running a Cafe and a household amongst other social and family obligations....

I said I feel so blessed that at this age, my body can do half of the things I couldn't even do in my twenties....So yeah, exercise has really been my outlet to release and manage my daily stresses.

Exercise is a privilege that many take for granted. We don't value exercise until our health is compromised.

One important thing I want to remind you of today is to ensure your mental health is prioritized at all times.

Honestly speaking, I don't know where I would end up if I didnt commit to keeping and staying fit as it has been really tough mentally and emotionally to deal with alot of daily battles and challenges.

So I want to remind you, my queens, who are above 40, it's never too late to invest in Fitness and Exercise. It is truly the fountain of youth.

Challenge yourself to do 5 push-ups, 5 situps, 5 seconds planks, 5 star jumps, 5 squats, 5 knee taps, 5 mins walk....whatever the challenge/s, start small and build up your confidence and passion in the fitness space.

Start now and reflect back on the 31st of May and celebrate your wins and positive changes.

Your future self will thank you and hug you tight 🫂 I promise.

May this new month bring you strength, guidance and hope to start your journey of Self-Love and personal growth.

For Beginners who want to start their fitness journey....

Follow these steps....

1. Find yourself an accountability or exercise buddy

2. Start small. Go for strolls. It could be just a 15 minute walk with your buddy everyday.

3. Start adding exercises (this one in the vid is pretty simple but effective)

4. Consider Intermittent Fasting (stay tuned for my upcoming 30 day Fasting Program) or change your eating habits and food choices

5. Keep it consistent. Aim for at least 3 times a week for all of the above.

Weight Loss Journey🙏

It's not always about the physical aspect of it when you embark on a fitness or weight loss journey.

It has alot to do with your mindset and purpose when making a decision.

It's also not about Perfect...It's about Effort.

When you bring that effort every day, that's when transformation happens.

I've been coaching and mentoring in this space on and off for 3 years now.

This year I decided to charge for my time and "wisdom".

My clients come and go but during my coaching and mentoring sessions, I encourage them to show up every day, especially on the days when they absolutely don't feel like showing up.

I encourage them to take it one day at a time and be patient with their progress.

I remind them that, they have to do the work themselves, I am only here to cheer them on, guide them, support them and encourage them to keep at it.

It's been a wonderful experience using this Fitness space to empower and encourage women to build their confidence and self esteem.

Fitness and Weight loss has everything to with fixing things in your mind first then it translates to physical results and health benefits.

SN: This is me 2021 Vs 2023....yes its been quite a journey and I've benefited immensely and I want to share my journey with as many women as I can so they can also enjoy the benefits of being a healthier version of themselves.
