Patrick Basa is the first district member to make a donation on behalf of Kabwum District, contributing K100,000 to the MAMA Foundation Clinic infrastructure in support of its lifesaving medical evacuation work across not just Morobe Districts, but Papua New Guinea.

The district donation marks a significant show of leadership and commitment to healthcare support for people in remote and underserved communities, where access to urgent medical services remains a challenge.

The Foundation acknowledged Mr Basa as the first donor representing Kabwum District, describing the contribution as a powerful statement of unity, compassion, and responsibility toward improving healthcare access for all Papua New Guineans.

CONJOINED TWIN TOM PASSES AWAY AFTER EMERGENCY SEPARATION IN SYDNEY; SAWONG SURVIVES | 8 December 2025 🕊️✝️

After our conjoined twins Tom and Sawong were transfered from Port Moresby Paradise Private Hospital to the Sydney Children Hospital, further investigations, which could not be conducted in PNG, were conducted in Sydney on the conjoined twins, and it was confirmed that Tom had little chance of suvival after separation.

Yesterday, Tom and Sawong went into emergency separation at the Sydney Childrens Hospital.

Into the operating theatre went one body with 2 souls

After 7 hrs of procedures, we had 2 bodies and 2 souls.

Sadly, we are confirming that we lost one of the 2 bodies, the body of Tom, but happy to report that we still have 2 souls and Sawong has survived the separation.

Please keep praying.

A young first-time mother from Dungket Village in Kabwum District was in urgent need of evacuation after suffering a life-threatening labour complication in one of Morobe Province’s most isolated mountain regions.

With no nearby health facility, the nearest aid post at Sapmanga would take one and a half days of walking, while Bungawat Health Centre is another 24 hours away, leaving the patient stranded without access to emergency care.

This is the first time a school in Lae has come together to contribute and donate to Manolos Aviation's Non Government Organization ( NGO ) , Mountain Area Medical Airlift ( MAMA ) Foundation. The donation contained toilet rolls, bath soaps, laundry detergents, and other more which the students were encouraged to give out of what they can contribute.

The school administration said the story of the conjoined twins, Tom and Sawong, and their fight for survival inspired both teachers and students to organize this contribution.

MAMA Foundation received the donation and thanked the school , describing the moment as one of the highlights of the year. They said seeing a school come together to give for a greater cause was truly uplifting, and they commended the teachers and school board for teaching the right values, adding that “humanity is the first leap of faith any person of age group can take”.

A remote emergency has been reported from Waffa Sub Health Center in the Markham District after a late 30s mother currently 38 weeks pregnant, developed an arm prolapse while in labour.

Reaching the mother remains a challenge. Health workers from Waffa SHC will need to cross three rivers before accessing a vehicle-friendly point for extraction. Despite the difficult terrain, communications remain open, and CHW was advised to provide a condition update on Sunday morning.

Manolos Aviation and the MAMA Foundation continue monitored the situation closely as efforts were made to reach the mother in time and brought her to Lae.
