The NGI Regional Training here at the Kokopo Village Resort on the UNCRPD concludes our national rollout of the UNCRPD. We were grateful to have participants and representatives from AROB, Manus, NIP, and WNB all coming with the interest to empower and advocate for their PWDs.

PNGADP would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to World Vision Papua New Guinea for their unwavering support in rolling out the training program for persons with disabilities (PWDs). Your dedication and commitment to creating an inclusive and empowering society are truly commendable.

A milestone achievement for our Southern Regional OPD Leaders 👏🏽

Our Provincial OPD Leaders from Oro, Milne Bay, and Western Province have just attended and completed a 3-Day training in Alotau on the UNCRD through our partnership with our good friends at World Vision Papua New Guinea

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) is an international human rights treaty, which exists to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all disabled persons ⚖️

Please take time to look it up and educate yourself and your family on the rights of PWDs in our communities as contributing members to society.

Did you know?

That the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol was adopted on 13 December 2006 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and was opened for signature on 30 March 2007. There were 82 signatories to the Convention, 44 signatories to the Optional Protocol, and 1 ratification of the Convention. This is the highest number of signatories in history to a UN Convention on its opening day. It is the first comprehensive human rights treaty of the 21st century and is the first human rights convention to be open for signature by regional integration organizations. The Convention entered into force on 3May 2008. Papua New Guinea signed the UNCRPD in 2011 but is yet to ratify the Convention.

March 29 is the National Day of Disability(PNG)

Matthew 15 v31: People were amazed when they saw that those who could not speak were now able to speak. Cripple people were made strong. Those who could not walk were now able to walk. The blind were able to see. Everyone thanked the God of Israel for this.

A word of appreciation to Kina Bank for partnering with PNGADP in successfully conducting the accessibility audit for inclusive braille ATMs.
We appreciate the inclusivity 🇵🇬🏧👨🏽‍🦯👨🏽‍🦯

Improving the prosperity of our people is in our DNA. So when it comes to building out our Sustainability program, we’re making sure nobody is left behind.

Recently, we conducted an accessibility audit in collaboration with the PNG Assembly of Disabled Persons (PNGADP) at our Waigani branch. This was a fantastic opportunity for us to review how our branches function and to ensure they are inclusive and accessible for people living with disabilities - and we’re proud to say we’re the first major corporation in PNG to take such action!

By collaborating with the team at PNGADP, we’re proving that to provide equal access to banking services.
