Learning from Every Case, Improving Every Care | TDH Morbidity and Mortality Conference

TDH successfully conducted its Morbidity and Mortality Conference last May 25, 2026, attended by doctors and office heads who were invited to participate in this meaningful academic and clinical discussion.

The conference highlighted the presentation of morbidity and mortality cases from July to December 2025, which were comprehensively discussed by Dr. Chriezlyn Z. Filipinas. Her presentation provided a detailed review of the identified cases, emphasizing significant clinical findings, management, and outcomes.

Moreover, three doctors presented their respective interesting mortality cases encountered at TDH. The first presenter was Dr. Chriezlyn Z. Filipinas, followed by Dr. Henry Tiu II, and lastly, Dr. Rueben James Cortez. Each doctor shared the Top 3 most interesting mortality cases, providing valuable insights, clinical analysis, and lessons learned from each case.

Indeed, the activity served as a productive learning experience, reinforcing Talacogon District Hospital’s commitment to quality patient care, professional growth, and evidence-based practice.

May 25, 2026 – The Monday Flag Ceremony was successfully conducted and hosted by Nurse Station 2, with the active participation of hospital staff and personnel. The ceremony formally began with the usual opening activities, fostering unity, discipline, and patriotism among everyone present.

The Message of the Week was delivered by Ms. Joycee Claire P. Vejandilla, RN, highlighting the inspiring quote from Proverbs 3:13, “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding.” Her message emphasized the value of wisdom, understanding, and calm judgment in facing challenges and responsibilities in the workplace.

Following this, important announcements and updates were given by the Chief of Hospital, Dr. Rollyboy T. Dacera. After the announcements, Ma’am Jing called the nurse representatives from each station as part of the celebration of International Nurses Week, which was held two weeks ago. The nurses were recognized and honored through an engaging activity where they were asked work-related questions, showcasing their knowledge, dedication, and commitment to patient care. This was followed by a fun “Bring Me” game where participants actively joined and received special prizes.

The ceremony concluded with a lively Zumba session, promoting wellness, camaraderie, and a positive start to the week for all hospital personnel. Overall, the activity was meaningful, interactive, and successfully strengthened teamwork and appreciation among staff.

May 22, 2026-A productive coordination meeting was conducted with 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐂𝐅, 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐄𝐝 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬, 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 and other members of the Medical Team, headed by Dr. Rommel Medrano of PCF Talacogon, in preparation for Palarong Pambansa 2026, particularly for the sporting events to be held in the Municipality of Talacogon.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration, discussing medical preparedness, ensuring safety protocols, and aligning responsibilities to provide efficient healthcare support and emergency response throughout the event. It also aimed to strengthen the referral system to ensure immediate and proper coordination for any medical concerns or emergencies involving athletes, coaches, drivers, the Technical Working Group (TWG), delegates, and other individuals involved in relation to the activities.

Through teamwork, coordination, and proper planning, everyone remains committed to ensuring a safe, organized, and successful Palarong Pambansa 2026 for all participants and stakeholders.

May 20, 2026—Health and Wellness Wednesday sponsored by 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 was filled with energy, teamwork, and fun as participants enjoyed exciting interactive games.

The first activity was the 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞, where each group showed enthusiasm and teamwork as they eagerly spelled out words, making the competition lively and exciting. This was followed by 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬, where each team picked a disease and creatively acted it out while others tried to guess the correct answer, bringing laughter and entertainment to everyone.

The third activity was the 𝐄𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞, where all participants stepped inside the garter while music played. Once the music stopped, they had to quickly move out, and the last one touched by the garter was eliminated. The final game was the 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞, where participants formed a circle and counted from 1 to 8. Anyone who mentioned the same number at the same time or was the last to say the number was out.

Winners of each game were awarded prizes, making the event even more exciting. Overall, it was a fun-filled Wednesday that promoted health, wellness, camaraderie, and teamwork among everyone.

May 18, 2026—Right after the flag ceremony, the nurses of Station 1 conducted a Ward Class aimed at strengthening patient awareness and health education.

Topics discussed included 𝐔𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧(UTI), 𝐀𝐦𝐨𝐞𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐬, and 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐡𝐞𝐚—common conditions that require proper knowledge for prevention and management.

In line with 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 this May, Ms. Blescille also shared valuable information about cervical cancer, including its risk factors, signs and symptoms, and possible treatments. She emphasized the importance of early detection and reminded everyone that prevention is always better than cure.

Through initiatives like this, TDH continues to empower patients and promote better health practices in the community.

May 18, 2026- The TDH family gathered once again for the weekly Flag Ceremony, hosted this week by the Medical Social Services and Supply Office.

Ms. Allyssa Galinato also presented the Patient’s Response and Feedback through the Hospital Client Experience Survey. We are pleased to share that overall feedback from our clients who availed of TDH services remains positive.

May 13, 2026—As part of the wellness activities organized by the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS), TDH successfully hosted an Open Pickleball Tournament at the TDH grounds. The event brought together employees and participants in a fun and energizing competition that promoted health, camaraderie, and teamwork.

A total of six teams were formed, each competing in a series of exciting matches as they battled their way to the top. The tournament showcased not only athletic skills but also the strong spirit of unity among participants.

After a thrilling set of games, the duo of Ken Ryan Magbanua and Isiah Ken "Ik" emerged as the champions. Securing the 1st place were Lady Jane Chan and Ronnie N. Torralba, while Richard Perez and Jundralyn Ostos/Roselyn Antod claimed the 2nd place.

The pickleball tournament proved to be a meaningful highlight of the PGAS wellness initiative, reinforcing the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle while strengthening bonds within the TDH community.

𝐏𝐆𝐀𝐒 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲

On May 13, 2026, the PGAS Health and Wellness Activity was successfully conducted, led by the Laboratory Department of Talacogon District Hospital. One of the highlights of the event was the “TDH IQ Check,” a fun and engaging quiz bee that featured questions on general knowledge, including history and topics related to the Palarong Pambansa.

A total of five teams participated in the competition: Team Bad China, Team 6-7, Team Bobo, Team Malasakit, and Team Marites. The quiz bee consisted of three sets, with 15 questions per set, making the activity both challenging and exciting for all participants.

The event was filled with energy, teamwork, and friendly competition. After an intense and enjoyable round of trivia, the final rankings were as follows:

1st Place: 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚 (Isla Sizzling COmbo Meal Voucher for Each Participant)
2nd Place: 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝟔-𝟕 (100 Pesos Each Participant)

The Department of Health – Center for Health Development Caraga (DOH-CHD Caraga), headed by Dr. Amethyst Kathleen G. Alicante, visited Talacogon District Hospital to assess its readiness for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2026 on May 24–31, 2026.

Led by Chief of Hospital Dr. Rollyboy T. Dacera, with support from Administrative Officer IV Ronnie N. Torralba and Chief Nurse Leah L. Manapatilan—who confirmed staff augmentation readiness—the team checked the wards, Emergency Room, and overall hospital preparedness.

With Talacogon hosting table tennis, archery, and secondary girls’ basketball events, the hospital, backed by the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, is fully preparing to ensure quality healthcare services during the event.
