Initiated through the leadership of Chief of Hospital III, Dr. Fulbert Alec Gillego , RMT, MD, MSPH, DPCAM, PhD, this seminar was made possible through the strong partnership between the DOHโMalinao Treatment and Rehabilitation Center , the Ago Medical and Educational Center AMEC BCCM , and College of Arts and Scienes Dean, Ma. Suzette Agcaoili, PhD, RPsy, RPm.
The activity brought together BS Psychology, BS Biology, and Tech-Voc students in a meaningful discussion on prevention, awareness, and fostering healthier, drug-free campuses.
The program opened with an inspiring message from President and CEO, Dr. Angelita Ago, who underscored the vital role of educational institutions in shaping not only academic excellence but also responsible choices, resilience, and a strong sense of social responsibility among young people.
Insightful discussions followed from the subject matter experts. Dr. Fulbert Alec Gillego discussed the medical and psychological aspects of addiction. PDEA Bicol Assistant Regional Director, Christian Frivaldo presented the Bicol situationer, current issues, trends, and response efforts of PDEA. MTRC's Legal Officer, Atty. Charmen Miranda explained the core provisions of Republic Act No. 9165, while Health Program Officer, Neolan Aรฑonuevo introduced the participants to the programs and services of Malinao Treatment and Rehabilitation Center.
An engaging open forum followed, where students and faculty members actively raised questions and reflections, including valuable insights from AMEC's Legal Consultant, Atty. Maritoni Resurreccion.
In her closing message, Dean Ma. Suzette Agcaoili expressed heartfelt gratitude to MTRC for its continued partnership and commitment to raising awareness among the youth, strengthening the shared mission of education, prevention, and holistic well-being.
