Good evening!

For Doc Erin’s patients: just a heads-up that Doc Erin has clinic EVERYDAY except Thursdays and Sundays.

If you need to consult her or want her to check and interpret lab results, feel free to drop by during her clinic hours.

If you really can’t make it to the clinic, you may go to the ER instead, to have your child properly assessed by a health care personnel or a pediatric resident. This is to keep you and your child safe and to avoid any mistakes with prescriptions.

Doc Erin also respectfully requests that lab tests not be sent thru viber to avoid miscommunication and ensure patient safety.

Thanks for your understanding!

🩺 Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) in Children

🔍 What is PEG?

PEG is a procedure where a feeding tube is placed through the abdominal wall into the stomach using an endoscope.
It allows long-term enteral nutrition when oral intake is not safe or adequate.

👶 Why is it done in children?

Indications:

Neurological conditions (e.g., cerebral palsy)
Swallowing disorders (dysphagia)
Failure to thrive or malnutrition
Congenital anomalies (e.g., cleft palate, esophageal atresia)
Chronic conditions (e.g., metabolic disorders, cancer)

Coins are the most common type of foreign bodies ingested by children.
Coins that reach the stomach and intestines usually pass uneventfully, however, if it gets lodged in the distal esophagus, or like this patient, in the fundus of the stomach, pose a greater problem and may need to be removed endoscopically.
