SPMC Named Most Sustainable and Livable Hospital in the Philippines
A recognition of steady work, responsible stewardship and service to the Filipino people
The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), the largest DOH-retained hospital in the Philippines, has been named “Most Sustainable and Livable Hospital in the Philippines” during the 10th Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards. The award was conferred on April 22, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Hotel Manila—a fitting stage for a recognition years in the making.
The award was received by Medical Center Chief Dr. Ricardo B. Audan, together with Chief of Clinics Dr. Fitzgerald Aranzel, Chief of Nursing Ms. Charity Mata, Chief of Finance Ms. Cecil Japson, and Chief of the Allied Health Unit Ms. Lani Paler, who stood alongside him in receiving the award.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Audan underscored the essence of public service:
“Because we are a public hospital, every peso, every program, every reform must stand up to scrutiny—not only of our auditors, but of the Filipino people we serve.”
He emphasized that the award belongs to the entire SPMC family—our dedicated doctors and nurses, allied health professionals, administrative and support staff—whose collective efforts give life to our mission.
This recognition is also shared with our patients—whose trust, resilience, and stories continue to inspire us to serve with compassion and excellence every day.
SPMC continues to move forward. With the proposed expansion to a 2,500-bed capacity already approved at the committee level in the Lower House and now awaiting elevation to the Senate, we remain hopeful for its eventual enactment into law—an important step that will allow us to widen our reach while ensuring that sustainability and livability remain at the core of how we serve.
For SPMC, this award is not the destination—it is a reminder of how far we have come and a call to continue moving forward, together.
Padayon sa pag-lupad, SPMC!
