Types of Hypertension in pregnancy
Chronic Hypertension:
High blood pressure diagnosed before 20 weeks of pregnancy or lasting 12 weeks after childbirth.
Gestational Hypertension:
High blood pressure that develops after 20 weeks of pregnancy in someone who previously had normal blood pressure.
Preeclampsia:
Occurs when a woman with gestational hypertension develops new symptoms of organ damage, such as protein in the urine, after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Eclampsia:
A severe form of preeclampsia characterized by seizures.
