Almeria, Biliran β October 22, 2024β In light of the impending threat posed by Tropical Depression "Kristine," Mayor Richard D. Jaguros has issued Executive Order No. 48, s. 2024, declaring the immediate suspension of work in both government and private sectors, as well as the suspension of classes at all levels in the Municipality of Almeria. The order, effective immediately, aims to safeguard residents and ensure their safety as the storm approaches.
The Executive Order cites weather forecasts from PAGASA, which predict heavy rainfall, strong winds, and dangerous sea conditions, leading to risks of flooding and public safety concerns. Given these conditions, Mayor Jaguros has emphasized the importance of preparation and caution to mitigate the potential impacts of the storm.
Key Provisions of the Executive Order:
1. Suspension of Classes β All public and private educational institutions in the municipality are ordered to suspend classes at all levels to prioritize the safety of students and school personnel.
2. Suspension of Work β Both government and private enterprises are directed to suspend work operations, ensuring the well-being of employees and their families during the hazardous weather conditions.
3. Exemptions β Essential personnel, including emergency responders, health workers, and disaster management teams, are exempt from the suspension and are required to remain on duty to provide critical services and support.
4. Public Advisory β All residents are encouraged to stay vigilant, monitor weather updates, and adhere to evacuation and safety instructions issued by local authorities to reduce risks during the storm.
Mayor Jaguros urges the public to prioritize safety, remain indoors, and cooperate with disaster response teams as Almeria braces for the storm's impact.
The local government continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary to ensure the safety and security of all residents.
