2021 GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY CELEBRATION at Bayugan City Public Market

As the world marks the Global Handwashing Day while fighting the COVID -19 global pandemic, the Philippine Society of Medical Laboratory Scientists (PSMLS), a non-stock, non- profit organization of Medical Technologists/ Medical Laboratory Scientists Butuan City Council in partnership with Bioderm, Department of Health - CHD Caraga, Philippine Red Cross-Butuan City, Butuan City Health Office and Office of the City Economic Enterprise joined in the celebration of Global Handwashing Day 2020 at S. Calo Public Market, Butuan City last October 15, 2020.

With the Theme "Hand Hygiene for All" that serves as a yearly reminder that handwashing with soap and water is one of the best steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs/ virus to others.

The objectives of this celebration are to raise awareness on the importance of proper handwashing among market vendors and food handlers at the public market and to strengthen the collaboration between DOH, LGUs and NGOs specifically Bioderm in combating the spread of COVID-19, germs and other viruses to avoid getting sick.

One of the activities is the actual demonstration of the proper steps in handwashing among PSMLS officers, members and the Bioderm Marketing Specialist in Caraga, Ms. Cherla Sulit. It was followed with a competition among stall vendors on the proper handwashing.

The highlight in the celebration is the distribution of bioderm soap to all stall vendors for their preliminary supply to be used.
