Update: Lexis needs a Revision Amputation ๐Ÿ˜”

Lexis has been doing well since his surgeries roughly 2 years ago. He goes to school and plays with friends. He likes waiting for classes in Mommy and Daddyโ€™s office, and loves riding in vehicles, roaming around and taking in new sights with awe and wonder. However, Lexisโ€™ bones continue to grow and his amputated site has developed sharp edges or bone spikes, which when hit can cause him pain, and which may also be why he dislikes wearing prosthetics.

Since Lexis was amputated at a very young age, he may require surgery every few years. An epiphysiodesis surgery may be done to slow the growth of his lower legs in order for him to have less surgeries. Still, we prefer preserving his natural growth as much as possible. He will need his first revision surgery this year.

We thank all who have helped our son get to where he is today, and we continue to ask for your prayers for his well being. We are so blessed that despite everything that happened, through the support of everyone, we are able to see Lexis smile, laugh, and enjoy life, and to pour our love for him as much as we can. Praise God! ๐Ÿคฒ

As another trial looms ahead, we pray that Lexis be blessed with the support system and environment he needs, and that he continues to overcome the difficulties ahead. We ask for wisdom and guidance from the Lord that as parents, we may always be able to decide on whatโ€™s best for our kids.

Blessed Sunday to all! ๐Ÿ™

Lexis visited CRMC last December 8, 2023 for a follow up check up. His prosthesis were adjusted. The doctor advised that he might have another surgery to "correct" the bones protruding, since his legs are still growing, and the muscle may not be able to catch up. This still needs to be observed though, but we fervently pray that this won't be necessary. Lexis has had enough surgeries for a lifetime already. ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ™

We will be visiting CRMC for a monthly check up and for the doctor and therapist to monitor Lexis's progress and fitting of the prosthetics.

Lexis continues to have PT sessions in our hometown. However, he complains and gets tired easily. Making him wear his prosthesis is often a challenge, even when he is bribed with toys and chocolates, and even more so when he is asked to walk. Nevertheless, we continue to try to find ways to motivate him to practice. We try to make him even just wear his prosthetics for 1 hour everyday, and we are happy with such improvement already. Slowly, but surely.

We pray for the resources needed for Lexis to have more productive sessions. ๐Ÿ™

Lexis turns 4 this month! ๐Ÿฅน

to his Pre-Birthday shoot last year. Grateful for all the love from family and friends who made this remembrance of Lexis' recovery possible. This was taken merely a month after his 2-month stay in the hospital. Lexis just started smiling and laughing again. His legs were still dressed and bandaged because the wounds were not fully healed yet, and some of the skin grafts did not stick well. The skin staples weren't removed yet. In short, he must have still been in a lot of pain despite having been discharged. Yet, he was able to be joyful again. How Lexis is!!! We pray to soon ๐Ÿ™

Thank You, dear God, for the providence! ๐Ÿ™

Thank You, God, for Lexis' love for travelling, sunny disposition, and perseverance. We had to endure a 7-hour commute, yet Lexis enjoyed the whole time. He was a very good boy during the trip.

We pray for better days and more productive sessions, and we hope to see Lexis stand and walk on his own soon. ๐Ÿ™

Day 1 of Lexis' Physical Therapy

Lexis counts with the therapists as he exercises his knees. The left knee is harder for him to straighten due to the keloid scars. Toys are used to motivate and/or distract Lexis. He has no strength to stand up by himself yet. He cries for mommy whenever he is scared or hurt. He slept right after the session, and enjoyed the jeepney ride home.

We are very grateful for the patience and pleasant handling of the medical staff, and for the help of everyone who has made this important milestone of Lexis' life begin.

We pray for better days and more productive sessions, and we hope to see Lexis stand on his own soon. ๐Ÿ™

No words can express how happy we were watching Lexis do one of the things he enjoys the most, again. ๐Ÿฅน He was so excited when we arrived in the resort, and we had a hard time making him leave the pool. ๐Ÿ˜‚ He would say things like, "More swimming!" ๐ŸŠ He didn't mind the heat ๐ŸŒž in the morning at all. ๐Ÿ˜… We hope to be able to take Lexis to more places where he has fun, and we pray that his positive and sweet energy remains forever. ๐Ÿ™

We are forever grateful for all the people who supported Lexis, from the very beginning of our family's ordeal, until now where things are starting to get better. Lexis continues to smile and do the things he loves because of you. THIS IS OUR WIN. ๐Ÿ’•

We took Lexis to the hospital again yesterday because there were two more skin staple wires that needed to be removed which weren't apparent during his last visit. ๐Ÿฅ

The next step would be rehab and prosthetics. We pray that God continues to guide us in order to be able to provide for all of Lexis' needs. We also thank you for continuing to include Lexis' speedy and full recovery in your prayers. โค๏ธ

On this day of Valor, we want to honor Lexis for his strength and bravery.

At a very young age, you have faced a great challenge in your life, but you rise above it with courage, determination, and positivity. The most difficult part is almost over, yet hard times are still ahead. We thank you for persevering through it all. You have always shown an incredible amount of strength. You never fail to share your laughter and tears. Your smile lights up our lives.

We know that by the grace of God, you are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to. We look forward to the day that you will walk and run again. We pray that the world will be a kind place to you, and that you will always be surrounded by love. May God bless us in making sure that you grow up to your maximum potential, always in His path.

Your legs are finally free from any bandage, stapler, threads, and any medicine. May your wounds heal, not just physically, but in all aspects, and may the road to full recovery be speedy and problem-free.

We love you always, bunso! ๐Ÿ˜˜
