Man, I’m settin here. Watching all the music industry news. All the new changes. All the new laws. All the new topics such as the Spotify situation. And I started thinking about my career specifically with “music” and I’m like okay… I’ve never been in trouble. I’ve never had an issue where I’ve put myself in a position to be blackmailed. There is no dirt on me that’s able to be obtained. I’ve made somewhere around 30 albums. I have multiple Certified Gold & Platinum records. I’ve been smart with my money. I’ve been smart with my decision making. I’ve assisted artist to become mega stars in the beginning of their careers. I’ve been mentioned by people the world call legends. I’ve had legendary artist call me to come to their houses in the middle of the night to listen to unreleased albums. And most importantly I’ve documented all of it. Then I ask myself. Why all the controversy? Some may say “it’s just jealousy” but I don’t think it’s that. And if it is that, then thats not the full story, it’s more than jealousy it HAS to be. I believe jealousy is the smaller portion of the way bigger reason. What that reason is. I’m not entirely sure. But by the looks of the chit chat in the music scene & the way people are moving right now. And by people I mean anything from single “artists” to “CEO’s” & “LLC’s”. By the way the corporate industry & the independent scene are choosing to make their moves tells a WAY BIGGER mystery that I believe we are on the brink of uncovering.. there are too many people all over the internet putting different parts of the puzzle together. And me being THE ONLY (yes I said the only & I will debate anybody and prove them wrong in less than 30 minutes with cold hard proof) I AM THE ONLY artist at least in America that I know of that is this REMOTELY INDEPENDENT without any corporate industry ties. Now take that with the fact that I’ve always been extremely open and documented everything that’s ever happened in my career & you mix that with the transparency I’ve had with the people that listened to me & my music for the past 13 years. And it makes you wonder is that THE PROBLEM. Is the problem that I “AM NOT A PROBLEM” to the system we call society. Is the problem that not ONE SINGLE COMPANY sways my idea’s, my opinions, my friend group, my lyrics, my choices. Is the problem that “Ryan Upchurch” as a “artist” paints the picture & lives by the morals & functions like a Past time American that they don’t want society to idolize. And was that the problem of every other artist with a death story that makes zero sense…. Not sure. But for certain something to ponder. Especially with the way certain entities are moving and decision making right now. And in my personal life. Looking back. There are a HUGE LIST of situations in my own career timeline that are starting to make WAY more sense tonight then they ever had before. Just remember… reality is way more interesting than fiction. And to me that isn’t an opinion. That is an absolute fact. Which is why so many lies are told.
